Checked into the hotel shortly before check-in time. Before even getting into the bed. or putting our clothes away, I had to go to the emergency room for a severe sciatica attack, my wife needed help getting me in and out of bed so we had to go to relatives home. My wife went back to the hotel the next day at 10:00 AM and explained the medical emergency. She then said we would be unable to stay for the agreed three nights because I needed more help than my wife could give. They said even though it was a medical emergency we would still have to pay for the second night because they did not have 24 hours notice of the cancellation. He did not become ill until late evening and didn’t leave the ER until close to 1:00 AM so early notification was impossible. I feel a medical emergency should be a good enough reason to override the 24 hours policy. Paying for two nights at a hotel in which we did not sleep or shower or do anything does not seem fair.
