We intended to stay here on our way to Big Bend. Unfortunately, we did not have a permit because we could not find information on how to purchase. Wanted to post a review to let others know: you can purchase the ‘annual non-hunting use permit’ at any local retailer that sells hunting licenses. Aka, convenience stores. If you plan ahead, you can purchase online as well. Texas Wildlife Management website.

A nice place to stop going to or from Big Bend National Park. Primitive campground with covered picnic tables, fire rings. One pit toilet that needed cleaning, but there was a hydrant and hose nearby so we washed it. No potable water available. Hiking limited to the roads and fields around Elephant Mountain in order to protect the big horn sheep. But, we saw deer, prong horns and javalina.
