For Eagle River Campground - Chugach State Park: We were looking for a place to stay that would be convenient to explore and hike in the Eagle River area of Chugach SP as well close enough to visit Anchorage. We're self contained in our 25 foot MH and don't use the facilities. We stayed over a weekend in late July. The CG did not fill during our stay. This is a nice primitive (no hookups) CG within a half hour drive of North and South Fork Eagle River trailheads and downtown Anchorage. It has about 60 sites arrayed on 3 loops. Some sites are designed for RVs while others are tent only. There are single and double sites. Most are generously sized and surrounded by trees for shade and privacy. All are paved and most need some leveling. The dump station is out of order. There's a potable water supply trucked in with a 20 gallon limit. There's trash service near the dump station. There are pit toilets in each loop. There is some road noise from the highway and there is less traffic at night. There're good ATT and Verizon cell signals. There's a nature trail at the CG. There are many trails to hike in the Chugach SP within a half hour drive.

For Eagle River Campground - Chugach State Park: Earthquake damage from last Nov has closed the single access road. The entire campground is closed per State Parks, until mid-June 2019. ADN 5/2/2019 has a picture of the road displacement.

For Eagle River Campground - Chugach State Park: Very nice campground. It is clean and the campground host is very attentive. The only drawback is that the dump station is out of order The host informed us that it “ keeps backing upâ€. We are amazed how little road noise there is being so close to anchorage

For Eagle River Campground - Chugach State Park: Great campsite with well maintained trails down to the beautiful Eagle River. Hostess was very nice and answered our questions. Campground was busy on the night we were there (Memorial Day Weekend), but the sites are spaced far apart enough that it didn’t feel too crowded. Check out ACF Church in downtown Eagle River, if you’re there on a Sunday morning or Wednesday evening.

For Eagle River Campground - Chugach State Park: Great State Park for exploring Anchorage BUT signage to park is bad. Small sign on frontage road for turn is easy to miss. We did and had to make tough u-turn with trailer. Also only potable water is from tank not high enough for good flow and hose is too big for opening.

For Eagle River Campground - Chugach State Park: Positive: A green space to park at, paved sites, and fire pits. Pit toilet was clean at the entrance.
Negative: Noisey Hwy can be heard, people using camp sites for picnics (day and night), no campground water site except by dump station ($5.00 dump fee) and it is a plastic tank (like what is used on a spray truck) with a garden hose stuck in the top of it. Graffiti scattered around campground. Fire pit was littered with glass alcohol bottles and human feces in grass off paved pad.
I won't stay again.
