For Elmendorf AFB FamCamp: Stayed at Elmo FAMCAMP for 2 weeks prior to PCS. $30/night for water and electric. No sewage at each site the Black Spruce (Fort Rich) has. Agree with previous reviewer, the restrooms unkept, smell of sewage on men’s side, just gross. I would’ve stayed at Black Spruce had it not been for necessity.

For Elmendorf AFB FamCamp: Horrible bathroom facilities, unkept area, young and uncaring staff. I suggest the base Commander send his wife to check it out and see if she would stay there. An insult to anyone who wishes to stay there.

JTIDS

For Elmendorf AFB FamCamp: What everyone else said - water tastes good enough for coffee, electric is clean, dump-station is well-maintained. The "volunteer" camp-host is a fixture; nice fellow. The "paid" camp-host should not have any contact with people (uncertain if military-affiliated, some off-the-street job-seeker, or a contractor hired by a concessionaire. We had a "run-in" with the woman, who has no respect for anyone who prefers to exercise common courtesy when dealing with other humans. The remote "management" is hands-off whiny-no-contact type; would not even acknowledge our complaint until MWR Commander was contacted. The Air Force has been going into full-fluff mode since the current administration took over, and management - across the board - reflects the Politically-Correct-don't-hurt-anyone's- philosophy that's now endemic in the military. The military has been directed to spend millions on trans-gender buffoonery, but they can't accomplish their military mission, which includes a pittance to morale, welfare, and recreation (to which the military members contribute through AFEES, and PAY for directly - i.e., $30/day for partial hookups - for only the summer season). BTW - laundry equipment has been broken for over three months - and not likely to ever be fixed. Stay at Ft Rich's Black Spruce campground - no host, and clean facilities - and FULL hookups.

For Elmendorf AFB FamCamp: We have a 39' motor home and tow the gate sentry had us drive through a metal frame tent instead of the diverted entrance. The motor home almost fix causing hundreds of dollars of damage. A recommendation to the base is provide access for motor homes to drive through the gate or close it to motor home traffic. The facilities and camp host are great having a forest like setting. $30/night electric and water only at the sites with a dump station readily available.

Tubastew

For Elmendorf AFB FamCamp: Great location. Convenient to the exchange as well as downtown Anchorage. Gravel roads and parking. Spacious sites. Our site had strong 30 amp service and water. The dump site was clean. Regs seemed to be enforced, no homesteaders that we could see. A recent rate increase brought the rate to $30/night. Three washers, 3 dryers, each use is $1.50. Several shower houses, no wi-fi. WI-FI available at exchange. Stayed 7 days in a 5ver. Don't be surprised if mil aircraft are active overhead.

For Elmendorf AFB FamCamp: We stayed at the famcamp for several months starting in April 2011 - at the time the dump station was being upgraded and the water was still off but it was still a great place to park - outdoor rec helped out with providing water. 50amp was up and running so there was all the power needed. Truly enjoyed our stay there
