For Roosevelt Lake - Windy Hill Campground: The place was almost empty mid week. Nice views. Nice flat sites. Bathrooms clean. No hookups and the posted signs that state an Rv dump at Cholla campgrounds open Thur and Fri 10-2 is obviously outdated at is eas CLOSED. Just FYI

For Roosevelt Lake - Windy Hill Campground: The showers & bathroom were clean & nice, and no quarters needed. Plenty of hot water. Senior pass rate now $12.50. The place was virtually empty, so choice of level spots with lake view. But if you have time, choose Tortilla campground instead, 1 1/2 hours around through Apache Junction. It’s much nicer, but no showers.

For Roosevelt Lake - Windy Hill Campground: We stayed in the Coyote campground, site 290. Beautiful spot with views of the lake and sunset. It was very level, with a covered picnic table and fire pit. There were only 3 of us in this loop So it was very quiet. Though I imagine it would be crazy if it were full as the sites are close together. This area has flush toilets and Bathrooms were old but clean.

For Roosevelt Lake - Windy Hill Campground: We stayed at Cholla Campground. Their water was turned off so no showers or toilets (porta potties were provided). We drove 20 - 25 minutes to Windy Hill Campground to take a shower. The bathrooms and showers were filthy! Obviously had not been cleaned in a long time. According to the host at our campground they have heard this before from other campers. Even though we had no water/toilets/showers at our campground we were still charged $25 a night ($12.50 with a senior pass).

For Roosevelt Lake - Windy Hill Campground: Campground is okay as it is large and most (if not all) sites are pull-thru. The problems are that it is very widely distributed with sub-campgrounds that have animal names, but there is no information about the differences between them and the layout of the campground. The prices are VERY confusing with options, caveats, changes, passed in some areas but not others. Cannot use pay stations in camping areas but have to drive back out miles to the entrance pay kiosk, which only takes credit cards. The kiosk has more confusing info and does not provide the option and fee settings that are described for the campsites.

For Roosevelt Lake - Windy Hill Campground: This used to be a nice inexpensive place to stay but the price this year went from $3 with a senior pass to $8 per night. Rumor has it that next year it will be $25 and that the supervisor wants to turn it over to a commercial vendor.
My RV group comes here every year. This year the showers are broken in Jackrabbit with no intent to fix it we hear.
It's neat that it is near the lake and the cliff dwellings, the dam and the other lakes
in the chain are just down the road.

Lyn
For Roosevelt Lake - Windy Hill Campground: Love Windy Hill campground. We spent two weeks there this year in. 29.5 arctic Fox fifth. Great place with lots of exploring to do.
$8 a night for a non serviced site with available water and a distant dump station open only two days a week.
BUT there is a dark cloud on the horizon.. Rumour is next year they will replace their antiquated and unusable daily pass system with an automated ticket system. All good so far, but the price? Four times this years price. $25 per nite non serviced.
Seems the new Tonto forest supervisor is more interested in mining than tourism.
