Just wanted to post an update. With all the new housing in the area they have improved the cell coverage and there is full high-speed wifi signal in the campground now, no need for a signal booster, yea! Whir Tank is by far, still our favorite Maricopa County Park!

Willow campground had a number of tent and rv sites. Easy access and very well maintained. Had potable water, flush toilets and showers! The sites were fairly well separated and had immediate access to trails for hiking and biking. The family campground, about a 1/4 mile down the road, has a dumpsite. Library and nature center at entrance and within 30 minutes from all the city amenities.

A one night stay. Wish it could have been longer. What a nice park. Hiking looked very nice. Great view of the city at night. Very quiet. Very level site. Lots of space between campers. Felt very laid back. Check in lady was super nice. Didn’t check the bathrooms so no report there.

Great local campground access to hiking trails. Electric and water at sites with gravel, fire pit, and solid table and bench. Awesome views at night as you can overlook the city. We, unfortunately, had many bugs andfull quitos. Think this was a fluke as I have never experienced this before. Fair warning bring bug repellant. Otherwise great place.

Fantastic views of adjacent mountains, and heavy desert vegetation throughout the campground including saguaros, with lots of birds. Many sites are large with excellent screening, others are closer together with no screening. Big-rig friendly. A small campground, very quiet. The campground is in the foothills above the valley floor, with gorgeous nighttime views of Phoenix. You do have to drive 3 miles from the entrance station on a road with a 25-mph speed limit, along with day use folks going about 10 mph, which is trying to one’s patience. We were happy to see the campground heavily patroled by the hosts, who actually enforced the park rules for once - wish more parks actually enforced the rules! Verizon cell phone worked OK for phone calls, but barely any data via the Jetpak even with our WeBoost.

Location close to Phoenix and associated services is great. View of mountains is nice. Access to hiking trails is easy. Information supplied at check-in, including map of the area, is well-done. No wi-fi and limited access to Verizon signal. No recycling. Single bathroom with one shower for entire campground. No shade.

Really enjoy this large park. It is a nice spring training location for Texas and KC. There are lots of hiking and biking trails!

Nice camping area. Lots of trails for hiking and biking. Great place for spring training (Go Rangers). Only one shower for men and one for women so at times it could get crowded. Hosts were extremely nice and helpful.
