For Gold Trail RV Park: Attempted to camp here but the owner start d to argue before we even exited our RV. He started to lecture us about having our diesel RV running while we attempted to register. He continued the argument even after I turned the engine off. He started to use profanity about us having a dog. After he started to use the F word I told my wife that maybe we should find a different RV Park. At that time he became more agitated and started to spit at us telling that we need to leave Canada. This is not a campground that I can recommend

For Gold Trail RV Park: Almost didn’t stay because of bad reviews, but it was fine. We had a level spot, for $20 US, ate ribs for dinner, did laundry ($2 ea) and took showers ($1) then fell into bed. Yes, it’s old and funky, and you need a sense of humor to enjoy it. It’s like Dick’s Last Resort in the USA... not for uptight people.

For Gold Trail RV Park: If you don’t stop here to camp still stop to get the best BBQ ribs south of Texas.

For Gold Trail RV Park: This is a very nice RV park, but don't stay here if you don't have a sense of humor, or can't take a joke. The owner, Michael, is a terrific guy, but I think of him as the Don Rickles of Canada. He is hilarious, but his humor can be a bit much. Personally, I loved the guy and I was laughing my whole time there. That said, this is a nice little RV park right on the highway which is perfect for an overnight stop or a couple of days stay. We stayed an extra day because Highway 97 was closed for a week due to washouts, and we took some time to reevaluate our travel plans. Clinton is a charming little town, and everything is within walking distance of the park. We especially enjoyed the local historical museum. Michael is also a great cook, and serves a mean BBQ with a good buffet of side orders. We would definitely stay here again. Don't let the negative reviews fool you. Michael is a good guy, and was a big help when our travel plans needed to change.

For Gold Trail RV Park: Previous reviewer has it right. I never would have stayed here if I has read the review, but a bug shows the average stars as 4! Owner is surly and seems to believe that low rates (not really - we got the same rate at a wonderful park the night before) allows hi to abuse guests. Fee for Internet fee for showers - not that you'd want either one. Internet was glacial and one look at the WC had us using our RV's facilities. Even though we were desperate for showers neither of use would go into the pits that were his without a biohazard suit - does anybody really PAY for the chance to come down with Black Plague? If you are forced to stay here, we discovered the one handicapped restroom was OK.

For Gold Trail RV Park: We were tired after a looooong day of driving and pulled in, parked in an open spot and I went in to pay, saying, "I'd like to pay for parking for one night please." to which the owner (?) responded, "Not right there you're not!" Hmmm, okay, I'll park where he wants me to. He directed me to another spot -- fine, we just needed to sleep. Later, while my hubby was using the washroom, I went in to inquire about the wifi password. I THOUGHT I had seen a sign for free wifi -- my mistake, just WIFI, not free. So when I asked about the password, he was doing dishes in the kitchen of the restaurant, he grumpily came over and said he would need $2 for the password. "oh", I said, "I thought it was free. That's okay." to which he replied, "yeah, you're right that's okay. Have you SEEN MY RATES?!!!!" (is $24 for an overnight parking spot considered a fabulous value? we stayed at nicer places for way less), then as I am walking away, he's muttering, "yeah, TYPICAL!" Wow....I guess he wins my most grumpy Canadian award, in fact the ONLY grumpy Canadian we came across (love you canada!) but really, it was not just his rudeness, he was scary rude, hostile. I'd drive a long way not to stay there again.
Another complaint, and for us a minor one since we were just there to overnight, although they have tons of really nice looking picnic tables stacked up for sale, the picnic table at the spot where we parked was really a hazzard -- the boards were rotting away. If you sat in the wrong spot, the seat would flip up at you. So, all in all, a good place to pass by.
