For Laufman Campground: We arrived here in a 36’ coach as dusk was falling in mid-October. When we got here, there was a 30+ foot 5th wheel, a mid size travel trailer, and a couple who were car camping already set up. As the previous reviewer mentioned, it is very peaceful and lovely. The Verizon signal is also quite strong. While we spent a peaceful night, there are some things to consider before coming up here. The road from Millford is called Millford Grade for a good reason. It becomes very STEEP. It required us to use first gear. The last mile to the campground is dirt washboard. A sign states that the road becomes impassable when wet. Four wheel drive and suitable mud tires would be a must. Also beware of low hanging branches. In the failing light, we missed the second turn off into the loop. The loop is one way. We were lucky to find a wide place where we could turn around. There are at least six sites, but not all are near level. There is a pit toilet but we saw no water source. There are serviceable picnic tables. You might never find this spot without prior information. However, it is quiet and free. Just don’t arrive at dusk like we did!

For Laufman Campground: A true gem for boondockers!
Hwy 395 was closed to RVs due to high winds, so we wandered up the canyon to Laufman Campground to ride out the storm. There are 6 sites, 3 of which could easily accommodate our 32' SeaBreeze. Beautiful surroundings with dense Aspen groves and Douglas Firs all around.
Did I mention quiet? A Lassen County Sheriff car cruised through right after we arrived. Both deputies waved and went on their way. We never saw another soul until we left the next morning.
We discovered this place purely out of need, buy we'll be back to spend some time and enjoy the surroundings!
My Verizon phone had strong 4G signal, but my wife's AT&T phone had nothing

For Laufman Campground: May 1, 2015. Stayed last night and had the entire place to myself! Just a short distance off the highway and yet completely quiet and serene. Best camping experience in a very long time. The restroom is a bit rough, but the campground is very clean and looks virtually unused. Good 4G signal . . . I'm writing this review on my smart phone now!
