For Palm Canyon - Anza-Borrego Desert State Park: A simply magical place in early February. The upper loop of dry campsites are a much better camping experience as they are more remote, more widely spaced, and closer to the mountains and wildlife. Keep in mind the sites on the south side of the loop in winter are in the shade by 2:30p. Given the warm temps during our stay the shade was a blessing. Don’t miss the Palm Canyon Oasis and Slot Canyon hikes in the park, both easy and spectacular. We will most certainly be back.

Laura
For Palm Canyon - Anza-Borrego Desert State Park: Stayed here in a full hookup site. Nice to get full hookups. Bathrooms are clean, with showers (did not use but saw they need tokens). The Borrego Springs as a town is small, but there are a few restaurants, we only tried Keslings Kitchen by the Art Institute, it was good. And there are a few, not a lot, of other shops to visit. The campground is a state park, and the Visitor’s Center is great. We came during wildflower season and it was fantastic. The hiking is good. The cell signal here was ok, we used our own jet pack, no wifi provided. It can get windy here, so given proximity to the canyon, keep that in mind. It can also get very hot, we came at the right time of year. We loved it here just because the camp was pretty, and we had a great site and could walk out from our site into the desert, surrounded by wildflowers. There are a TON of coyotes, so be aware of this. And there are birds and squirrels to watch as well. Overall, this is a great place to hang out, hike, take pictures and enjoy the warm desert during a cold winter. Just don’t expect great sunsets. This camp is close to the mountains on the west, so sun sets early, and not much color. The Palm Canyon trail sets out from here but it was closed, check to see when it opens.

For Palm Canyon - Anza-Borrego Desert State Park: Nice campground with level spots and reasonable facilities. Not much shade as might be expected given the location. Pay showers with purchased tokens. Very busy on a weekend in January. Lots of BLM and dispersed camping nearby.
