For Cherry Valley Campground: We drove a 34’ motorhome while towing a small truck. The road up from Tuolumne City is a good two lane road all the way. The 30 miles of windy road took well over an hour. While the road was quite good, many branches overhung into it and we had to drive into the center a bit. Generally no problem except on the many blind curves, so we did hit a few branches. I was told the other road up from Groveland was more challenging for a larger rig. The campground is a typical forest service campground. The sites are spacious and well cared for, with new fire rings and bear proof storage lockers. Picnic tables are in good condition too. Surprisingly there are mosquitoes, very rare in summertime Sierras. A mini creek passes nearby that is probably the source. I was disappointed there is no easy access to Cherry Lake. It’s either drive a couple of miles to the boat put in or wind down long steep makeshift brushy paths. There are no formal hiking paths. The campground itself is really designed for tenting and smaller rigs. The parking pads are mostly narrow and quite short with wooden railings close around them. It is difficult to maneuver a larger rig into the spaces and there is no room for a second vehicle. The roads are very narrow with a few sharp curves. And it is impossible to completely avoid hitting branches. We were about as big as anything that could get in. We wouldn’t recommend it for a rig our size and won’t be coming back.
