Shadow Cruising
For Morgan Hill RV Resort: We stayed in back-in site 123 in our 28ft TT 03/04/22-03/06/22. Check in was easy, just had to show my TT insurance and registration, which I knew about ahead of time from checking reviews prior to my arrival. The Ranger station booth at the front now closes at 7:30pm. So if you are arriving later, call ahead to make arrangements.
The grounds are nice, the amenities are nice, most of the back-in campsites are roomy and nice. The pull-Thru sites seem a little close together. Each site has a picnic table and W/E. No sewer. Plenty of trees and shade around the back-in spaces.
There’s only WiFi at the lodge, but you can pay for WiFi at your site. We didn’t pay for it, since our AT&T signal was strong on our cell phones. We just streamed from our phones onto our tv and Bluetooth radio in the rig. There are no over the air channels for TV, and Radio stations are hard to get. There are two dump stations on either end of the park. The dump stations were well maintained.
Bathrooms and showers were clean and maintained. A honey bucket service is offered for $25 per day. There is currently about 40 spaces near the dog park that are getting upgraded to include 50 amp. Ideally, free WiFi park-wide and Full Hookups should be included, to make this park a destination location.
The pool is HUGE and is heated starting in April.
There are plenty of activities for kids. Kids activities included painting pictures, rock painting, hikes and legos on Saturday. Thousand Trails employee, Kandice, was very accommodating and friendly while running the kids activities.
Thousand Trails is about a 10 minute drive from Morgan Hill restaurants, gas stations and Grocery stores.
We stayed here because we got a membership included with our RV purchase. This is the 2nd Thousand Trails location we have stayed at, neither had free wifi park-wide or full hookups, so we have no interest in paying for a membership. We’ve found KOA’s are the gold standard for amenities. There is a membership office at the front entrance, if anyone is interested.

For Morgan Hill RV Resort: On line check in was very easy. Staff was very friendly and were often seen cleaning restrooms and grounds. We picked our own spot and there was plenty to select from for our 36ft 5th wheel. Paid for WiFi but could rarely get connected. Had to upgrade our hotspot just to get TV reception.

For Morgan Hill RV Resort: MORGAN HILL (TT) RV PARK, Morgan Hill, CA
Just 25 miles south of San Jose, this park is in a great location with meadows, woods, creeks and Wineries all around and no traffic, train, or airplane noise. The park appears to be maintained and had fresh landscaping.
Dirt sites are nearly level with 30/50 E/W (dump station is convenient and very accessible).
We enjoyed our brief 4 day stay and would come back again.

For Morgan Hill RV Resort: We became members and stayed here for two weeks during our fire evacuations. The staff is all very helpful and friendly. The honey bucket lady is a real pro, doesn’t leave a drop behind and was very helpful to us newbies with tips and training. She even stopped by when we were dumping ourselves on the way out to see how we were coming along. Nice lady!
We met the manager, who is amazing, professional and courteous. Amy at the front gate stands out as a bright person with a ready smile and eager to help. Wineries nearby are doing drive-thru pickups for COVID. Super quiet peaceful spot. It’s now our home base and we will stay as often as possible.

For Morgan Hill RV Resort: We are staying here for 2 weeks in June 2020. They just opened up for camping due to COVID19, most common areas are still closed following Santa Clara County SIP.
Despite that, this is a wonderful campground. Staff is nice while still assuring SIP guidelines are followed. The bathrooms are very clean and stocked. We will definitely RV camp here again.

For Morgan Hill RV Resort: It's early December here and the weather has been very rainy for the two weeks leading up to our arrival, yet when we got here, the amount of standing water was nominal and the sites seem to be mostly dry in the F/G sections. Driving around did not show any real water problems, so that was encouraging. The 30 amp section is closed because PG&E won't come out and replace a blown panel. Chapter 11 tends to encourage companies to make bad choices and if half of what I've heard about that company is true then I hope PG&E is broken up and their entire board thrown in jail.
TV? We don't need no stinking TV! At least that had better be your position as there are no signals (we're pretty much surrounded by large hills. I see several people with satellite systems and while there are trees, it's not a solid canopy by any means, so I expect getting a signal is not that hard for most. On the plus side we got our new Roku to replace our old Apple TV & Fire Stick equipment and with the Verizon hot spot it's amazing. Can't say enough about Roku. The Verizon hots-pot generally does a really good job during the day but at night we get a few pauses and network errors, but nothing too annoying.
There are a lot of parks in the west that don't seem to have sewer, so I can't reasonably ding anyone for that, but it would be nice to see them add it. Management says they are adding a loop next year and that it will have sewer. If that happens, then this campground will become even more popular. Water pressure (around 35-40 lb) here is typical for a lot of parks and electrical seems to be quite decent. During our stay we had zero issues with power. The utilities are not new but they are mostly good looking with minimal signs of age.
For the most part there's a decent amount of room between sites and it looks to be pretty easy to back into most of them. There are a few pull through sites and several of the back in sites have been "converted" by previous occupants. Cars are mostly parked in their sites and not along the road like I've seen at a lot of campgrounds. The staff seem friendly and helpful. My only real complaint is the cell service. Either there has been a change recently or some of the previous reviewers were using boosters. While I can get 2 bars on Verizon and 1 bar on AT&T, the DATA SPEED SUCKS. I can't stream TV shows on Verizon at night without interruptions and the upload speed keeps reading 0.00mb on the speed tests. AT&T is even worse. T-Mobile does not even register here. They've got a newer WiFi installation by Jabba and I've been forced to use that to do any meaningful work. Jabba tends to be better than most pay-for services, but that's not saying much. I am dropped at least once a day, but reconnecting is quick so it's not much of an issue.
Most needs can be met in Morgan Hill which is about 10 minutes away. Every possible store or business is within 45 minutes unless it's rush hour, then it can be up to 2 hours getting there. Peking Restaurant has decent Chinese food (but no crab wantons) and the Morgan Hill dog park is a great place to give the puppies a good romp. Bottom line: It's a really nice park, but don't expect to use your cell data here unless you are only using low bandwidth streaming or have a booster. Their WiFi is acceptable and reasonably priced.
