For Morro Bay State Park: Stayed here twice in a year. First time, May of 2021, in no-hookups, second with w/e hookups. Large sites, not very brivate, but nice. Bushes and some trees. Lots of rabbits and quails. Some bathrooms have been remodeled, hot water showers with tokens. Walk to marina and Bayside Restaurant, Inn at Morro Bay with restaurant overlooking the bay. History museum, heron rookery, short drive to Morro Beach with dog friendly large beach. Black Hill trail, nice walk up the hill with view of bay - dog friendly. In April 2022, stayed in w/e site. Seemed crowded and dirty, food on the ground, bathrooms rundown. Lots of weeds everywhere - dog got ticks. Still nice walking/hiking area. Best sites are in the back - more shade, but no hookups. stayed 5/21 and 4/22 18ft. campervan

For Morro Bay State Park: Nice park and they do have hook ups , I was able to book a great spot with a view for two nights (in January) the campground was built in the 1930’s by the CCC. HAS SHOWERS ((they could use a little maintenance) but had hot water. Walk to the small boat harbor and bird trails out in the marsh. Great sunsets from the top of the hill, right next to a golf course

For Morro Bay State Park: Used to be such a nice place. But park ranger and ‘toll gate girl’ were very argumentative and authoritarian. Just bullies, really. Hate being harassed by these two. Made the stay really unpleasant. Then on top of it after charging $50 for the site they now have installed a credit card reader on the dump station and charge an additional $10 to dump!

For Morro Bay State Park: Close to Morro Bay. Close to good hiking. Lots of poison oak. Cute exercise trail in the park. Sites are fairly close together without trees or barriers to provide privacy. Museum still closed because of COVID. But Good birding. No WiFi. Bathrooms need help. Must use tokens purchased at restroom. Shower controller stuck in on position on cold and took about 1 minute to warm up. Could not move it at all. Park seems well kept up nicely.

Rick

For Morro Bay State Park: No hook ups, they do have a dump. Best part is weather, nice and cool. Trolley bus comes to park to go into Morro Bay $3 for all day pass. Park sites a little close with tents spread all around. Sites aren’t level but not too bad. Fresh pine scented ocean air. Showers and bathrooms are provided but need rehab. Worth a couple of days stay to visit Morro Bay are, Sites 1-30 have hook ups but they are even closer together, also you need to reserve them way in advance.

For Morro Bay State Park: The only thing I can say about this place is that I felt safe. Way too crowded! I picked a spot and a rude couple took it after I had paid for it, so I got stuck with a spot near the bathrooms. I could hear every conversation about face wash and wet clothes, every toilet flush. Everyone walked within a foot of my tent. A family nearby was ridiculously loud. At least they were speaking German. Someone’s car alarm went off, and they couldn’t figure out how to turn it off forever. Every motor was louder than a jet engine. People kept slamming the trash lid. Car doors slamming. No one even tried to use quiet voices. Dogs barking. It sucked. And for $35...screw that. Go down the road!

Eric

For Morro Bay State Park: We have stayed here twice and have a third trip planned. Choose your site carefully and reserve it as soon as you can. The sites we have chosen have offered some separation and openness, but others are just on a row with little space.

It's the only state park I've been to where someone has stolen our firewood, but I cannot blame the park for that. It's been clean and comfortable, and well-maintained when we have been here. With the ability to launch our kayaks a short distance away, and explore the dunes and wetlands on the water, it's hard to find fault. We have seen everything from seals to eagles. The park has a nice interpretative center was well. Then there is always the town, the Rock, the otters, and a few nice hikes in the area.
