For Point Mugu Recreation Facility: LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION. Can’t beat it. A little tired but we are understanding the site will be closed from April 2025 for the year to get that refresh that it needs.

For Point Mugu Recreation Facility: It’s so hard to rate this place. I’ve never been in the summer, but I hear the mosquitoes are terrible. I’ve been once in November, the week before Thanksgiving, and it was awesome. In 2023 I went the week before Thanksgiving, and it was so windy that we had to leave early. That’s no one‘s fault except Mother nature’s. They have new 50 amp hook ups, which are nice. We must’ve got there shortly after they installed them because the electricians left wire everywhere. I went around and did my duty and picked it up. I don’t know why they didn’t do it. It’s a very poorly managed facility. The people who work in the building are nice and the building is nice but the parking lot and the RV park itself are in sadp7yqtg disrepair. Then there’s the beach. Pristine, gorgeous, with great walks available both on asphalt and sand. So it’s up to you to decide if it’s worth it. $55 a night for beachfront isn’t bad.

For Point Mugu Recreation Facility: Best part on the beach! They have put some work back into park. Laundry actually has working machines and they are free. Showers small but clean. However, mosquitoes are BAD! If no wind they chase you to waters edge. If a nice breeze is blowing much better. Also very bad ant problem. Many sites dump stations inop due to sand. Electric hook ups should be changed to all weather type. They are rusty. Price increase to $55. I thought MER wasn’t suppose to make money.

For Point Mugu Recreation Facility: I have stayed at this park several times in the past. My last visit was from 6/16 - 6/19/2023, I will not be staying there again! The RV Park gets A+++ for its location. I mean it is right next to the beach, but there is no Lifeguard. However, it is located next to an estuary and depending on the time of year, there are swarms of mosquitos! It gets A+ for the overall layout and design of the RV Park, as there is usually a good amount of space between sites. The RV Park gets F--- for the maintenance of the grounds. Everything is dead, weeds with thorns growing everywhere. Thorns that will not only injure bare feet, but pets paws as well. It gets F--- for RV hookups. Because of an on going sewage problem, most of the sites have had their individual dump locations permanently sealed off, leaving only one location out of the park to dump which is about a mile away. All of the electrical connection boxes are rusted beyond repair, many with missing or unattached covers exposing wires and connections. A definite hazard to curious little ones. I've been RV'g for over 40 years, and I can honestly say, the Navy Getaways Point Mugu RV Park is the WORST I’ve ever experienced. Fix the sewer problem, clean out the weeds, plant some grass, and take some Pride in your facility.

For Point Mugu Recreation Facility: Right on the beach so I am very happy. Had FHU, old but working. Lots of sites are closed due to lack of services. Seems they have not received any upkeep and maintenance funds in years. Beautiful location but very run down. I wish the Navy could provide more funds for maintenance. They could have all sites filled all year long with some upkeep.

For Point Mugu Recreation Facility: Update to my recent post: ants are everywhere. Never had a problem with ants before camping here. Recommend bringing ant spray !

For Point Mugu Recreation Facility: Park is next to the beach and it’s nice to hear the waves. Parking spots are pavement and level. The hookups are old but they work just fine. No shade or grass nearby. The base itself seems old but aren’t we all. The area around the parking could use some upkeep. The gentleman at check in was very nice and explained everything to us. Nice deal for this area and would recommend. Cell service is a little spotty for Verizon

For Point Mugu Recreation Facility: This campground is right on the beach. Took my grand daughter for her spring break. We are going back in July. No internet or cable but I have a hot spot and booster that worked. We spent our days on the beach and nights around the fire. Great camp host. The park could use some updating but it’s on the beach. We always go to Toppers for pizza in Point Hueneme. Everyone was friendly. Some days we had the beach all to ourselves

Valuing Retreat

For Point Mugu Recreation Facility: This military RV Park is right on the beach so there’s plenty of sand and no grass. If you call for reservations or just show up, be VERY specific what your needs are. I reserved a full hookup space for our 40’ Class A with a towed vehicle. First space we were assigned had no sewer hook up. Second space was right on the beach. Heard the crashing surf all night, that was great! When the temps get high (75+) the salt marsh mosquitos come out with a vengeance so be forewarned. This is a very unique location with the beach, seals, dolphins, ospreys, herons, egrets, etc. Price is $45 for RV. They offer cabins, yurts and a motel. If you’re looking for LOTS of fresh salt air, and a beach front camp, this is the place.

Chris

For Point Mugu Recreation Facility: I arrived to search for a spot and there was a truck in the vacant spot that I chose to take. The truck owner kindly remove it when I asked. I then proceeded to park my camper and kids were immediately driving in their little electric buggy around my trailer between my truck and trailer with the space of about 1yard. Driving over my electric and water hose. I asked them to stop, they did. The other neighbour had a fire pit upwind from my rig. I asked him to move it and he kindly obliged. Another neighbour had blaring music which he wanted to let everybody listen to. The Wi-Fi has not worked for apparently for a long time. Sewer still has issues. These items I will submit to the camp host upon check out. Some spots provide a good view of the water and that’s why I give it two stars. At the moment, the campground; in spite of a great waterfront location, seems essentially unmanaged, not even poorly managed.
