For Balch Park Campgrounds: Balch Park, Ca., is located in Mountain Home Demonstration Forest. It is considered one of the most beautiful of all the Sierra Parks. This year, 2015, a camping spot is $16.00 and if you are a senior $8.00. Pictures of the campground are posted on the Facebook Group "Sequoia National Forest Camping & Recreation. The main campground has two stocked trout ponds set in Giant Sequoia Groves. Most sites have piped water, fire rings, picnic tables, and the views from most campsites are breathtaking.
There are a series of adjacent campgrounds and a pack station with daily horseback outings. The adjacent campgrounds have waterfalls and swimming holes. Although the water is mountain cold it is refreshing on a hot day. The streams have many trout and their are some very beautiful campsites.
RVs are parkable at Balch Park but only tents are allowed in the adjacent campgrounds. RVs need to take the Bach Park Road up from Sprringville, above Porterville, as the shortcut on Bear Paw has many switchbacks and narrow bridges. The Forest is home to Cal Fire and a major training site as well as multiple crews are based in the area.
