For Moraine Park - Rocky Mountain National Park: Beautifull campground. Site 183.

For Moraine Park - Rocky Mountain National Park: We were looking for any campground within RMNP that could serve as a base for exploring the park and hiking. We're self contained and don't use the facilities. We stayed on weeknights in early September.

This is a beautiful campground! The campsites are a bit funky, aligned differently where parking spaces are separated from tables, fire rings and pads, sometimes by trails/steps. However, the sites are arranged so that most maximize the view. We think the best views are from Loop C, although there are no bad views in this park. There's a wide variety of sites - full sun, shady, back-in, pull-over, large, small, etc. The sites have no hookups, water and dump are available near the entrance. There's no wifi. Some sites have usable Verizon and ATT coverage. The park rangers are throughout the park and pleasant and helpful and available to answer questions.

This campground is perfectly located for exploring the park. There's a bus shuttle from the campground to the major trailheads/visitor centers in the east portion of the park and to Estes Park.

For Moraine Park - Rocky Mountain National Park: Huge sprawling campground that feels like a small town. Some sites have no shade and not very even. Several roads were washed out after daily rains this summer. Firewood (and icecream) was a 10 min hike from our site. Evening program - a lecture about the history of the park - was engaging and fun for kids as well. A free shuttle from the campground can take you pretty much anywhere in the park (Estes park, Bear lake, Etc). The park as the whole did not feel wild at all, people, traffic, shuttle busses (every 8 min at the bear lake!) left a feeling that you are at the Central Park. Estes Park had more people then the fifth avenue.

For Moraine Park - Rocky Mountain National Park: Many amazing sites for RV or tent campers. C loop is the best for large RVs and has the best views of Moraine Park. D loop excellent for tent campers or small RVs and no generator use. Watch out for sites 164, 165- horrible ans right next to the bathroom where a security light is left on. Sites 99, 101, 102, 107, 108, 109,110, 115,124 are excellent walk-in tent sites with views of Longs Peak. B loop has about 13 RV (sites 180-189, 211-214) sites to accomidate 30-35 ft. Site 174 is very level and could handle a bit larger RV since it has plenty of parking. Dump station que tends to get backed up close to check out time. No showers but, Dad's Laundry in town has them for $5. Potable water spouts are throughout campground. Very friendly and helpful park rangers. Evening programs in the summer at the ampitheater at the beginning of C loop. Fire pits at the site where very nice. I noticed our neighbor pouring his grease and trash in the fire pit and he had a bear do some damage at his site in the morning. Bear awareness is necessary at this campground. I put my cooler in the rv when I'm not there to keep eyes on it. A sweet man, Darrel, comes in the evenings around 5pm to sell firewood, ice, ice cream, and sodas for a couple hours. He lent us marshmallow sticks since we forgot to pack them. Woke up to elk out our window! Amazing place! Get there early in the summer. 9-10am is a good time to get in since we didn't have a reservation. I'll plan ahead next time and book 6 months in advance. Hope this info helps someone!
