For Sugar Loafin Campground: Not sure why reviews were so poor in the past. Shower houses super clean and appear to have been recently remodeled with new tile etc. General store on site. Employee personally walked us to sites to pick our own. We showed up right at closing and they were super helpful. Unbelievable Mountain Views.

For Sugar Loafin Campground: Overall good. Forty per night. A little pricey, but it’s really the only decent place with hookups in the area. There are nice forest service sites 2 miles away, but they book up; and you have to boondock.
This place is dusty. I agree with the recommendation for gravel or pavement.
I disagree with those who complained about unmoved grass. This is dry area. Unless you expect them to water everything, the ground cover will be scrub. To me, that was fine.
The sites were close together, but it didn’t fill up; so we had Kentucky of room. The hookups were good. The office was clean. The fire pits were tended. The staff was very nice.
I think you’ll have to contend with dust anywhere around here; and the sightseeing is awesome - as is the fishing and kayaking at Turquoise Lake, 2 miles away. Gorgeous place.
Leadville is nothing special at all.

For Sugar Loafin Campground: An old campground and in need of maintenance. Some spaces are set among the trees but most are out in the open and you have absolutely no space between you and your neighbor. Expensive for what it is, but the staff were friendly.

For Sugar Loafin Campground: Not a bad place to stay. People are friendly and restrooms and shower area clean. Not far from Leadville. Mosquitos were everywhere though, not their fault at all it’s been a wet summer. Parking is tight but it wasn’t hard to park in our opinion. We would stay here again.

For Sugar Loafin Campground: Very Sad Here-
Very Tight n Unmaintained
If you call they will say you get an automatic %10 discount- they will want $30 to hold your reservation-then hit you another $20 When u check in.
My father was a Truck Driver- had I Not been as well, we would never had been able to get backed into this uneven unleveled lot.
Not worth $50.00/night

For Sugar Loafin Campground: This campground is in desperate need of simple maintenance. Grass cutting, site cleanup and leveling, speed limits to control dust, emptying of overflowing garbage containers could bring it up to three stars. Paving the dusty dirt roads, or at least a good gravel topping on the roads and sites, could bring it to four stars. Sites vary widely in terms of space. There is no WiFi. The young man who checked us in was friendly and helpful. At $41 per night, however, this campground is a poor value and I would not return.
