For Ocean Pond NF Campground: A great campground with beautiful scenery by the lake! This campground reopened on March 31, 2021 at 50% capacity. We stayed there 5 nights - March 31 to April 5, 2021. It is divided into 3 sections: sites 1-19 are large full-hookup ($30/$15 Senior Pass); 20-47 are water-only with bathrooms, flush toilets & showers nearby ($20/$10 Senior Pass); 48-67 are "primitive" sites with bathrooms and water nearby ($12/$6 Senior Pass). We stayed in one of the water-only sites. The camp hosts were friendly and helpful. We hiked several nearby sections of the Florida trail, and like another reviewer mentioned, we got some strange insect bites, plus ticks. Nevertheless, it was a great experience.

For Ocean Pond NF Campground: C2/8/20-Campground full sign not posted. No host. 5 campsites roped off but vacant: otherwise no available sites. Confusing! We used the dump & left disappointed!

For Ocean Pond NF Campground: Absolutely beautiful! Huge RV campsites with water and electric plus a dump close. There are primitive and water only sites also. I live it here! Plus you can stay 30 days. Only one thing I disliked is the bug bites. I’m not sure what is biting me however. Mostly on my legs. Note I do wear long pants and hiking shoes. Also I have removed 4 ticks from my 2 dogs. My advice is don’t take the dogs on the many hiking trails. The birds are beautiful here and I saw eagles and many other types. Also the camp hosts are very friendly!

Wills-on-Wheels

For Ocean Pond NF Campground: Great campground! Very well maintained. First come first serve but we were here off-season and there were lots of empty sites. Sites 1 - 19 have water and electric. Sites 20 - 47 just water. Very large sites. We were in site 19 and had 50 amp and were right by the lake. Easy in and out. Dump station near the entrance/exit. Lots of long blacktop sites. Had no problem fitting my 33' 5th wheel and truck. Very quiet when we were there and a nice breeze off the lake. Nice place to relax. We stayed 3 nights. About a 20 min drive into Lake City where you can find just about anything. (Diesel, Gas, Fast food, Walmart, Home Depot, etc). Restrooms are nice and clean, showers are free. Showers are large with soap dish, hooks and lots of hot water. Kind of out of the way but I really enjoyed our stay here. We camped at Ocean Pond Campground (USFS) in a Fifth Wheel. Verizon full 5 bars, AT&T 3. Don't trust your GPS with an address. Use these coordinates and it will get you to the road leading to the campground. 30.247409, -82.440479. We were there 4/17/2018 and had no problem with mosquitoes.

For Ocean Pond NF Campground: The sites along pond are rv type sites. I like to stay away from the generators and the primitive area here is nice. The hog pen area next to this is even nicer ... lake side primitive sites.

For Ocean Pond NF Campground: The amenities are mostly natural--pine tree forests, palmetto scrub, a pond the size of a small lake, most sites are at least Pond view and others on the pond. Trees with moss and plenty of squirrels. Ducks and wild life in and on pond. Gorgeous sunsets and probably sunrises too. There's also a little beach area with a covered pavilion.

Infrastructure includes paved road access, 19 electric/water sites, others with water only, two bath houses (one on electric end in excellent and clean condition), lots of paved sites, great tent areas, dumpsters at end of electric area, and dump station to the left before the gate house leaving the campground.

Prices are super reasonable. $18 for electric/water and only $12 if a US national park member. Water only sites and dry sites are less expensive.

I have two Garmin GPS devices, one Nuv type and the other for RV's. Both took me down a dirt road at NF 266, a dead end with a small turn around. Take NF 268 to turn into Ocean Pond Campground. It's well marked with Ocean Pond signage on CR 250 from both directions.

Stayed beginning 5th January 2017 for three nights. It is first come to reserve and is full most nights on electric side during the season.
