For Larry and Penny Thompson Memorial Park Campground: I’ve stayed here few times in the last few months. Location in convenient. Staff is super nice. Security guard always making rounds making it safe. Washhouses super clean. Laundry machines are clean and modern. They use an app/web based service for payment. Pool is nice but I’ve never been able to take advantage of it because it closes at 5.

Keep It Simple
For Larry and Penny Thompson Memorial Park Campground: A clean, well laid out, large, safe-feeling campground. The staff was very friendly and one told me “it’s like a village here.” People were out walking dogs, rollerblading, and there was bingo in the community room as we pulled in. It was quiet at night and all the campsites are neatly kept. The bathrooms were large, clean, and their was a bath house and laundry for each section. We were parked near several huge motor homes, and we were able to leave our tow vehicle hooked up to our 25’ trailer with room to spare. We stayed one night but would stay again if we are in Miami.

For Larry and Penny Thompson Memorial Park Campground: This looks like a nice place. I do not know about breakin’s. I t is near my home and it seems like a lot of nice folks stay here (they invited me to a game of bocci ball while biking through). It is 10 minutes off of the FL Turnpike (Exit 16) right next to the zoo and 10 minutes east of Krome Avenue which is the leisurely Road to the west. At 15 miles SW of Miami and 1 hour north of the Florida Keys, it might be a good place to stop before you head north or south. There is a Publix Supermarket or is (new) Walmart Supercenter within a 10 minute bicycle ride. If you drive into the Redlands you can find any variety of tropical fruit.

For Larry and Penny Thompson Memorial Park Campground: This park had several positives for us:
1. Easy location and close to attractions and conveniences.
2. Clean restrooms and laundry areas convenient to “podsâ€.
3. Staff and security was friendly and kept an eye on things.
4. Full hookups and reasonably priced.
5. Quiet…quiet…quiet!!! Even though we were close to I75.
We would highly recommend this campground!!!

Maris
For Larry and Penny Thompson Memorial Park Campground: Our Ford F-250 King Ranch 4x4 diesel got stolen in the middle of the day from right in front of our RV at this park. This state park is NOT secure! We just purchased this vehicle and we did not drive it. Whomever stole our truck was an insider that cased the place. It is very scary to know that guests cannot feel secure here. Talking to neighbors today we found that theft of bicycles and other items here is common. We wish we would have known earlier.

For Larry and Penny Thompson Memorial Park Campground: Nice park, lot pads are small yellow poles are a pain. Not much privacy. Clean restrooms. Nice pool. Good security. Good price, nice friendly staff.

Stuart
For Larry and Penny Thompson Memorial Park Campground: A dog park rather than an RV park. Two dogs tied up outside next door 24/7 and barking all night. Other dogs roaming free. Dog poop everywhere. The first thing you want when arriving late on a hot summers day is to have a swim but the pool shuts at 5pm. We bailed out after one night.

For Larry and Penny Thompson Memorial Park Campground: Fantastic campground, pool open everyday but Monday, clean shower houses and laundry rooms. Beautiful trials to walk in the park. Nice grocery store right down the road. The staff was fantastic from the young lady at the reception office, and the folks that kept the shower houses clean, to the life guards. Security was 24 hours a day. Crandon Park has a beach that is as nice as anything I’ve seen in the islands, with coconut trees right on the beach just 45 minutes away. We are here for the month of February and have already applied for January and February next year. It’s obvious the staff at this park really cares.

For Larry and Penny Thompson Memorial Park Campground: We spent 21 nights (14 nights and then several weeks later 7 nights) with W/S/E-50 Amp in a 38 Ft. Class A Motorhome. Access to the park was easy and the staff was friendly and courteous during check-in. Our site was one of 20 located in a circular pod with a narrow asphalt pad. The pad wasn’t long enough to comfortably accommodate both the motorhome and car, so we parked the car on the grass next to the coach. There was good tree coverage providing some shade throughout the hot days. We were able to use our DISH Tailgater and also received numerous TV channels via antenna. The free Wi-Fi was good and we had no problem getting AT&T phone signal. You’ll have to drive approx. 30 miles to get to downtown Miami, 25 miles to the Everglades National Park main gate in Homestead, 16 miles to the Biscayne National Park Visitors Center, but the park is adjacent to the Miami Zoo. A few of our complaints would be 1) Grass gets high between mowings 2) While mowing grass, groundskeepers littered base of the coach with grass clippings prompting me to wipe/wash it off. 3) The swimming pool looked inviting but wasn’t open during the week in 90+ degree weather. 4) The laundry rooms were dirty prompting us to wipe the machines down before using them. Overall though, the park itself is comfortable and we would stay here again.

Wandering Sandals
For Larry and Penny Thompson Memorial Park Campground: Ended up camping in this county park for 7 days and love every minutes of it. A mile outside the campground has all the convenient of a Coral Springs city has to offered. Nested in the middle of grooves of mango, avocado, and nut trees, our site 12 in pod 5 has good shade throughout the day. Pod bathroom with shower and toilet stalls were clean and functional, as well as coin-op laundry. All sites are back-ins due to radial loop design. All sites and roads are asphalted and wide enough for easy maneuvering. Plenty of space for dog walking and a big lake within a long hike/drive/ride away. WiFi was strong enough and LTE signal was great. Full hook-up connections were logically layout. Be careful of parking at picnic/lake side due to apparent break-ins; shattered vehicle glasses are everywhere. Park manager and/or policy are not flexible if you reserved for 3 days and want to extend to 7 days, they will not give you weekly rate, rather price is each day multiplied by 7. At $33/day it’s not the cheapest, but the weekly rate will bring it down to $27/day, monthly rate will bring it down to $19/day.
