For The Hideaway: First off the sites are poorly designs campers are going every odd direction and are tight. Our “full hookup site” was a muddy tight spot with no hook ups at all. Instead we had to run extension cords and water hoses across the road to the other site. The girl working the office brought it down the wrong direction to make it even harder to get in the postage stamp of a site. They had to trim trees just to get our slide out. Our site had a plastic pallet that I guess they were trying to call a deck maybe. There was trash like glass bottles and a cake pan and a uprooted stump and some old rail ties. Next is the noise. Dear lord I’ve never stayed at a park with so much traffic noise it was crazy. Plus to top it off there is two military bases near by and then shoot motors or something similar till about 11pm. It’s like living in a war zone. We were booked for 7 nights but after the first night we were over it and left. At almost a $100 a night it was straight up robbery and yet they refused to give any of our money back on the remaining six nights.

For The Hideaway: Traffic noise. Need I say more? Campground is right on busy 4 lane highways 98. We stayed here for one month April-May 2021 in a Class A. Site 5. Full hookup site. Site was not level. Heavy, Heavy tree cover. Debris falling from the heavy tree cover stains your RV. Sites too close. If you can get a site that is near the office or waterfront, the traffic noise is better. If you can’t, I’d recommend passing this campground for anything other than an overnight passing through the area. The campground needs some loving care. The area surrounding the dumpster is horrible. The entire month we were there it had trash on the ground surrounding the dumpster. It should be cleaned/policed daily. In over 20+ years of camping, we have never seen a campground that runs an extension cord or water hose across the road and calls that a camp site. A parking spot in the parking overflow area is also not a campsite. Premium price for traffic noise.

For The Hideaway: This little Hideaway is run by people with heart! We pulled in for one night and because our son is a Make-A-Wish kid, they gifted us a second night for free! Our pull through was very convenient and nearly level. I loved all the beautiful trees and shrubs that make it feel very tropical and exotic! It has a cute little beach, accessible by a dock with stairs. Like most places in this area, their beach-front is still recovering from recent hurricanes. No wheelchair access, but it was pretty rainy anyway. Our son was happy to be able to see the water from his window. Laundry room has three washers and three dryers, all working well and clean! No personal fires allowed, but there is a cute little common fire-pit area with lights at night and swings hanging from the trees. Did not use other facilities. Really enjoyed our stay. Will definitely return. Note: Price of campsite depends on location and/or proximity to the water.

For The Hideaway: After a very disappointing start, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and waterview. Be advised, some of the sites are misrepresented as Premium Waterview Lots and they do NOT (in my opinion) have a waterview! After inquiring about my “waterview”, the young lady in the office was very accommodating and offered us to move to a REAL Premium Waterview Site. It was a lot of work to move as the sites are not level and very narrow. Tree branches prevented some of the slides from being able to open so the placement of the RV had to be precise. With that said, we did have a really nice stay and enjoyed our view! All the employees were super friendly and helpful!! Four stars is being generous with the misrepresentation of the “Premium Waterview Lot” but they fixed the problem and everything else was great!!

For The Hideaway: Beautiful small RV park in a lovely setting on the sound with small beach and lots of shade trees. We were there for 5 nights and would have stayed longer if they would have had a open spot. The managers were friendly, this is a very busy place. The sites are gravel with sand around so not perfectly level but nice. Some had picnic tables on a small deck area. The sites vary widely, some are right on the water which looked beautiful! My only complaint would be That the trash was area was overflowing and an eyesore but they did eventually get it cleaned up. We would stay there again because is the location.

For The Hideaway: This old Florida campground has lots of shade trees and great views from the waterfront sites. It was the only place we could find along the Emerald Coast that was dog-friendly and allowed off-leash access to the "beach" area which is really Santa Rosa Sound. We understand it was purchased last year and the new manager is making improvements. What we loved about it was that the view out the back of our 5th wheel was of the Sound. We also loved that our dog could play in the water and that people were friendly and quiet and that we often had the beach area to ourselves. Things that we'd like to see improved include repairing the fishing dock; moving the water, sewer, and pedestals to each site as they were oddly placed often on a different site. We nearly tripped several times over the cable hookup for the neighboring site as it was right at our doorstep. Most of the sites are quite compact, so it might not be great during peak times, but during our post-quarantine stay they were less than half full and most of the interior sites seemed to have a decent amount of space. Our 5th wheel is 42' long and they had some sites that were big enough, but it's really tight with a big rig. Our site was large enough for our 5th wheel, but didn't have room for our dually, so we had to park elsewhere which wasn't a problem while it wasn't busy, but it would surely be cramped if the park were more than half full. Some other reviewers complained of noise from the 4 laned road. This wasn't an issue for us but we were in a site as far away from the road as possible, but while walking our dog we did notice the road noise would be an issue for the sites near the road. I think this campground would be most enjoyed during the off or shoulder season at the waterfront sites. The off-leash dog-friendly beach and shady sites were the biggest appeal for us and it didn't disappoint in that regard, but I wouldn't recommend it if the only sites available are near the road. I'm giving it 4 stars which I believe is generous, considering some of the improvements still needed and the variables that worked in our favor, but I would give it a much lower rating if we were in a site close to the road.

For The Hideaway: The Hideaway Retreat is just that! Upon driving in, you see the beautiful white gravel throughout the property. No two sites are alike and are all full hook-up. The newly renovated laundry room and bath house looks straight out of HGTV!! The owner, Jeannie is such a positive, caring person, The Hideaway is her passion and it shows! They have a private beach front that the fur babies can run and be free on which I love!! The Hideaway truly makes you feel like you are out camping and not right in the middle of Navarre!! I love The Hideaway Retreat and you will too!! Check it out as soon as you can!!!
