For Hillsborough River State Park: Decent size campsites located among Live Oak and Palm trees. Rivers Edge Loop has newer/nicer bathhouses.

For Hillsborough River State Park: I really like it here for tent camping. Sites are big and flat. There are nice trails to walk and camp store. I even had a deer come up 10 feet from my tent. I'll be going back again.

For Hillsborough River State Park: Park is situated on Florida's only Class 2 river rapids. The website advertises kayak rentals and states that you can try out the rapids, but once we arrived the concessionaire stated "yes that's misleading, we actually don't allow our kayaks to go over the rapids. And anyway we don't have any kayaks to rent, they are all out for repair." They did have canoes to rent but you can only go in limited very low current area. The pool is huge, but be aware that even if you are camping you have to pay $4 per person per day to swim. There are no pool floats allowed (except baby floats.) Also there are no lounge chairs or umbrellas around the pool, if you want to sit you will need to bring your own chair or rent one! Very greedy place! Also we were hoping to see the suspension bridge as it was promoted on the website but when we arrived we learned that it was closed for a long term repair. We did take the Friday eve campground tour, the rangers were nice and entertaining but don't expect history, this is literally a tour of the loop and parking areas. There is a history tour available 2 weekends per month for $2 of the nearby Fort replica, with history of Second Seminole War. The camp sites were large with adequate privacy in many places. We had lovely site #14 with privacy on back and side. Raccoons and vultures were abundant but not a problem if food was locked up. We would happily stay again but would want to go in knowing what to expect!

For Hillsborough River State Park: This was the first RV place we had ever been to and it could not of been a better pick. We did not have bikes yet, but a lot of people seemed to need them. Everything was with in walking distance so bikes are required. You get a pool pass the whole time your there so bring you swim trunks. There is also a guided ranger tour of a fort. Its real cheap and its worth the trip. Go in the morning because it gets real hot for the afternoon tour. We will be coming back to this park. With bikes next time.
UPDATE: We came back with bikes and OMG. There are some awsome trails up front that go clever. Bring a bike and you will love this place.
