For Grassy Pond Recreation Area: The USAF should be ashamed to have their name associated with this campground. Been here a week and the place has only gotten worse. There is 2 washer and 2 dryers for a 30 site campground and one of the dryers has Beene out of order along with the soda machine. The grounds are full of branches and moss that have fallen from the trees and nobody seem to want to pick any thing up. There is a Waste Treatment Plant on the grounds some place because Septic Waste trucks drive down the road all day. We had an issue at home and wanted a refund for 5 nights as we checkers out early and was told NO REFUNDS. I surely hope that the Base Commander never has any issue’s with in his or her family and has to make a quick trip home as he or she doesn’t help anyone else. PLEASE if you are Retired Military realize that this campground is open to the PUBLIC and you never know what will be camping next to you. We had a single guy in only as pickup truck in the spot next to us for 3 days?

For Grassy Pond Recreation Area: Very nice campground. Melted very clean in every aspect. Bathroom are always cleaned. Grounds always picked up. Most if not all sites are campers. Not long teeters. I will be back here again for sure.

For Grassy Pond Recreation Area: We left the campground after spending 3 nights there. This was our first visit to Grassy Pond and our last. We were so excited about all of the amenities they offer and were looking forward to spending Wednesday enjoying them before our day at Wild Adventures on Thursday.
Upon arriving Tuesday evening, we were greeted by shin-deep grass and viscous mosquitos. From the time we stepped out of our truck we were under attack. I understand about being near water and mossy oaks (neither of which were at our campsite) we have camped many places over the years and have never encountered this type of mosquito problem. With Zika now in the US and West Nile a serious health risk, the staff didn't seem concerned when we told them about the mosquitos.
Our 5 year old was looking forward to the splash pool with the big mushroom in the middle. We could see it from our campsite. Unfortunately, it is in very poor condition. Not only is the finish chipping off of the concrete around the pool but on the inside of the pool as well. The pool has a wobbly handrail and a big metal plate over the drain on the bottom (right under the mushroom) with several very large sharp screws sticking up out of it. Not at all safe for children!! The entire pool area was dirty. Dead grass in the fence, bugs and a lot of trash in the water, broken chairs and no shade Unless you count the small covered picnic area outside the fence which would be a positive if the grass was cut and flies weren't buzzing the garbage can which is chained to one of the posts. The staff turns off the water and locks the area promptly at 5pm. Everything is locked up at 5. Our daughter wanted to play on the playground but had difficulty walking on the asphalt milling they have used as ground cover. It is hot, sticky and smelly and turned the bottom of her shoes black. Once again no shade over it and way too hot for children to play on safely. There was a small play area in the shade with sand as the ground cover but weeds were growing up through it and the equipment was old, faded and dirty which was secondary to the mosquitos, spider webs on the equipment and ants in the sand.
The sites themselves are spacious several are pull-thrus and have 30 & 50 amp service. The down side was the water. It stinks!!!! Literally. The water is sulphur and has a terrible odor, ok for washing dishes or bathing since the soap covers the smell.... but that's all, definitely would not drink it's! There is no cable tv but our antenna worked well for basic local programming and was not an issue. They do tell you about this when you make your reservation so we knew what to expect. Each site has a grill and a picnic table which would be nice if not for the overgrown grass and mosquito issue.
In one online review, it was stated the "homesteaders" had moved on. Not true. There are multiple campsites where housekeeping has been set up and appear to have been there for some time. There are also several sites were there are campers which appear to be abandoned. Dropped off but not in use.
The "round house" as it is called or rec room has no air conditioning so not at all practical in 98 degree heat. There is a fire ring in the middle of the FamCamp area and firewood is provided but again not useful in the heat unless to control the mosquito infestation.
We were really hoping this would have been a great place for our family since we are season pass holders to Wild Adventures. We will find another campground, not going back here even at the $25/night fee.

For Grassy Pond Recreation Area: The entire camp grounds are superb. . .from the easy access of the motorhome spots, the grounds, play areas for kids, cabins and trailers for rent (we did not go inside), fishing, boating (and rental), kids splash pool, several (clean) restrooms and showers, pavillions, and more. Very impressive. The only drawback was following the gps directions to Moody afb vs Moody afb Annex grassy pond. And to add insult to injury, the security forces on duty had NO idea where the rv camp grounds were and directed us from the main gatw to an alternate gate to have our 37'motothome "screened" along with commercial trucks. When we arrived at the alternate gate, i told the security force sgt why we were there and the fact i had a small firearm (which I always travel with) and waa directed to their hq. We drove the motorhome to their hq, checked in the firearm and when I asked for directions to the camp ground they said they didn't know. In total, we spent over 1 1/4 hours at Moody AFB when al

For Grassy Pond Recreation Area: Stopped here for 1 night on our way to Alaska in June, then stopped again 9 weeks later as we were returning home. Both stays were great although we did not really get a chance to explore the area. The price of $20 for full hookup is perfect and we had our choice of sites. The after hours checkin was easy and the host was friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay here again.

For Grassy Pond Recreation Area: Great place for a weekend get away! They are making an effort to make this a quality resort. Most sites are fairly level. Great job of mosquito control! I stay here frequently and enjoy the surroundings very much!

For Grassy Pond Recreation Area: Stayed here 1-2 June 2015. The site was maybe 10% full. Quiet easy access location just a couple miles off I-75. Strong wi-fi antenna located at the laundry facility. Easy access and although the description says only 2 pull-thrus I count 10+ pull thru sites that can easily accommodate large rigs. Gravel sites with concrete patio pad. Reservations accepted but they don't reserve by specific spot. 50amp full hookups with sewer at $20 per night military rate. Like many other MWR facilities now required to be self sufficient this one shows some signs of wear.
