Livin the dream

For Pottawattamie County Fairgrounds: We stayed here for 4 days to visit family. It does need some TLC and could be a little gem in this cute little town. They dont take reservations but we called the same day to see if they had something available. We have a big rig so we were concerned this might not work for us but it did because we wanted FHUP site. It was rather quiet and safe park to stay in. The sites can be more defined, the bathroom area cleaner, and the trash receptacle needed to be covered because the flies were crazy. We really liked walking dogs around empty fair grounds which was the best part. SO much potential here and income if the right group picked it up. With our big rig we wouldnt stay again but with a smaller travel trailer or 5th wheel we probably would. The price is right for sure.

For Pottawattamie County Fairgrounds: We pulled off the highway here for an overnight. It looks very neglected. It is only $20 for a night for FHU. It was hard to make sense of where the sites were for the hookups. Tried to figure as best we could. The bathroom was disgusting. It says the money goes to 4H and FFA youth. I suggest that they work on this little park as a service project and organize and spruce it up a little. It could be more of a gem.

For Pottawattamie County Fairgrounds: This is a perfect and quiet place. On the opposite side of town as I-80 so there is no road noise. Very quiet and peaceful. I agree with others the bathroom and showers are horrible still here in 2017. Large parking spots for every size RV. Roads are gravel and held up nicely with lots of rain today. Cost is still $20 on an honor system. There is a nice restaurant about 4 blocks north in the old style downtown. Good for a one night stop over. Absolutely QUIET!

We camped here in early June 2015 with a travel trailer. You will not find a quieter place to sleep and the birds are chirping loudly early in the morning. Water and sewer hookups are adequate however the grounds are mostly un-kept and the bathroom is disgusting. There is no attendant on duty, pay with an envelope on an honor system cost is 20 dollars a night. If a quiet place to sleep is worth $20 to you this is your spot.

Dave

For Pottawattamie County Fairgrounds: A bit rough. Passed on the showers. But it's a good quick overnighter if you need to dump and fill up your water. Very quiet. Couple of 'long term' RVs and one other transient like us. Good laundromat a couple of blocks away in the small downtown. Price is a bit high $20 considering. It's self check in. Leave the $$ in the envelope. Big Flying J on the highway if you decide you don't like it.
