For French Creek Campground: Sept. 2020: In my prior review I neglected to note: In addition to the hand water pump, which appears to be in some stage of decommissionng, there are a few freshwater faucets here and there in the "upper" campground section (up the hillside from W. MountainRd). These faucets are on wooden 4x4 posts. There are two faucets on each post, one above the other. The upper faucet is nonthreaded with a spring-loaded handle. The lower faucet has standard hose threads and a standard on-off handle.

For French Creek Campground: Sept. 2020: We didnt stay the night here but just drove through to check it out. The campground has two sections; one on each side of the (busy gravel) W. Mountain Rd. The sites nearest the lake are possibly a little more accessible for a longer cmping setup (20-25 ft total length). These sites are close to the boat ramp (which ended about 75 ft away from the closest water when we were there, so totally unuseable). We didn't see any sign of a freshwater source in this section of the campground. There is also no official Day Use area or parking in this area of campground, so nowhere to park during the day unless you have a camp site. The camp host site is in this area. The other sites, across the road, are on a hillside and are all fairly small and short spaces set among fairly thick forest. There is a handpumped well near the vault toilet bldg, not far from the entrance to the campground. There is also no Day Use parking in this section of the campground. The W. Mountain Rd. is very busy, a mix of gravel. large rocks, ruts and dirt. When the weather is dry it is dusty in the campground from road traffic and wind. We stayed further west, deeper into the Nat'l Forest. Check the local USFS Motor Vehicle Use Maps on the USFS web site before deciding to drive and camp in the Forest. There are some roads not open to vehicle travel, and many not open for dispersed camping. There are also some private land inholdings with private roads, some gated. This area is surprisingly "unremote" feeling, even miles into the Forest from the Lake Cascade area.
