For Twisted Oaks - Argyle Lake State Park: Quite, peaceful, camping sites are well maintained. Very nice lake $20/night for class A. Electric to site. Dump station and water at entrance. Downside is that it’s owners by the state of Illinois which is broke. Immense trail system but not maintained. Shower house is closed (if needed), repairs have been put on hold for over a year. Reserving on line suck as you can not tell what you are reserving. No one answers phone, nor does anyone return messages. Sites 65-84 are no reserve†sites for walk ins. This is where we stayed and would return to the same. Camp host on site.

For Twisted Oaks - Argyle Lake State Park: We were looking for a quiet place to stay in the general area to break up a long drive and manage tanks. We're self contained and don't use the facilities. We stayed on a week day in mid April.
This campground is very nice. The campsites on the perimeter were good sized and relatively private with a mix of shade and sun. The inside sites were a bit smaller, less private and mostly in the sun. All sites had electric and we're mostly level. There is a dump station near the entrance, and water through the the sites. There's no wifi. There is adequate Verizon and no ATT cell coverage. The camp host was helpful and friendly. We paid $15 with a senior discount.
There's a 5 mile hilly, paved road around the Lake and many hiking/mountain biking trails.
