For Holiday Acres Camping Resort: Could be such a nice place, but current owners have terribly mismanaged and it is now a dump. Pool, bike path, mini golf, are all unusable. Bathrooms in awful shape and sites are overgrown. Workers are unfriendly. Loud all-night drinking parties seem to be the thing here.

Camp boy

For Holiday Acres Camping Resort: This place is called a resort that's a joke. Camp host, Carol is the rudest argumentative person I've ever come across at a campground. The place is outdated and run down. one of the workers there the man that cleans out the black water tanks was nice and helpful. The other guy that mowed and the older guy that is supposed to keep the bathrooms clean you could barely get a grunt out of him have bad attitudes. This is mostly a campground that has seasonal people in it which are nice but traveling campers are almost non-existent. The swimming pool has chunks of concrete broken out of it and it appears that it appears no filter that is in working condition no overflow and no pump outlet anywhere. It's located right on a river so it floods occasionally when we were there two times, once to camp and another just to visit with some friends that we made there, the mosquitoes were so bad you couldn't come outside unless you're in a screen room. The seasonal friend we had said they used to spray but because of their bad attitude they have driven so many people away and nobody wants to come because of the bad low ratings and mismanagement they've got no money to do the things that it takes to keep up with the problems that are there. I read that the playgrounds were held together by termites and it is rightly so. If you read the amenities that they talk about the only thing they have is a sale building which used to be called the game room. The Mini Putt Golf Course is unusable the bicycle path they don't have bicycles anymore, there's no hay rides very few activities. The majority of the sites are 20 amp service and if you draw any electricity at all then you have to go and turn things off and flip the breaker back on. Ridiculous all it takes is a plug and a different breaker on the panels and they won't even do that. I stopped by at the 4th of July to visit a camper that I met and we kayaked from about 3 miles east along the Kishwaukee River and we went through the other Campground which is right in town in Garden Prairie and it was packed full. When we got out here on Epworth Road it was almost impossible to get out because they don't take care of the area at all where they have what used to be a beach and it was not only dangerous but difficult. At the same time the other Campground is full this had about 40% being used with campers and this was on a holiday ridiculous. Being so close to the river and the rain that they had this year there were very few areas that you could access because of the high water. Well that wasn't their fault but at the end of the season my friends tell me that on the 15th when they said they closed it was 2 in the afternoon then all the gates would be shut and you couldn't access your Campground with a vehicle from that point on. Well for at least 3 to almost 4 weeks you couldn't even get in the rest of the campground due to flooding so they didn't extend the season which was beautiful out of the time and the people that are working here are still here it's not like their workers leave. the worst part about it is they were closing the gates that they left open all throughout the season because they had no money to pay somebody to come and program them. So security was nonexistent. I spoke with the landowners family and was told that because they don't know how to run this and they got no heart left to try to keep the business going good that they are way behind their payments and they're going to probably lose the business. Hopefully when new ownership comes in they all understand that you cater to your customer and you don't argue with them and threaten to throw them out if they don't like it. these people have outlived their time trying to be in a service industry and really think that it's their way or down the highway Route 20. Another camper told me that they had to call in a tree guy that lives there year-round and have him cut the trees that were hanging over their campers because Holiday Acres decided it wasn't their responsibility and the lot renter had to absorb that cost. That goes to show you a little bit of the thinking of these people. If I could give it a less than one rating I would so giving it a one is being very generous. A clear example of the rundown conditions as I stated before the swimming pool and the bathrooms and showers that are right next to it. These bathrooms along with the ones across Epworth road on the west side are all run down shower curtains hanging 1/3 rungs, is that right and I've got Asian beetles everywhere. They have a Bar & Kitchen without the kitchen even being available period instead of leasing it out to somebody with a food license it just sits there unused and not drawing in any Revenue. These people have no idea what it takes to run a business and they've been at it long enough to know that you got to change with the times.

For Holiday Acres Camping Resort: We got a good night's sleep thanks to the staff finding us a quiet spot during a busy holiday weekend. The campground could stand a facilities upgrade as well as additional showers and laundry facilities.

Bob

For Holiday Acres Camping Resort: The bath house is very tired, like so many RV Parks across the USA this one has passed it's prime. No wi-Fi, no cable TV, water has a lot of iron in it so the pool looks rusty, some sites has lots of shade, a few do not. Staff is friendly and very helpful, lots of stuff for kids, pool, River, play ground, kids things. Ease off and on I-90 toll way.

I forgot the train. There is a fright train that goes by the park at all different times to take MT car haulers to the car factory just down the highway and take full car haulers out.
