For KOA Holiday Chicago Northwest: Great all around campground. Staff was AWESOME! We stayed here from 9/2/21 – 9/18/21. Clean restrooms, lots of activities for kids. Pool looked good (did not use it). We use this location as a home base as we visited family in the Chicagoland area. Every kind of store is within a short driving distance. The only negative is the well water but other than that a great campground. We camped here in a 30’ Class C MH.

For KOA Holiday Chicago Northwest: Busy KOA on the weekends with some seasonal. Gated with gravel roads. Sites are pretty level and most with full hookups. We had a deluxe site with a paved patio. There was a nice fire pit. The store was closed but you could text them
And they would deliver wood, ice or whatever you needed. People were friendly. The weekends were packed with kids
activities such as gem mining, tie dye activity, bingo, candy hunt, scavenger hunt, etc. There was a nice clean pool and playground with all sorts of kid friendly apparatus. Restrooms were pretty clean and showers looked decent though I didn’t use. This is big rig friendly. We camped with our 29’ MH with a tow. I would of given 5 stars but the way they handle the laundry situation is pretty funky. I was told they “only book at 9, 11, 1 & 3†when I called. THEY BOOK 1 PERSON EVERY 2 HOURS…that’s 4 a day. The laundry room has 3 washers and 4 dryers. I think they could have doubled up a little. Employees were not wearing masks Sinai doubt if it’s because of Covid. It just seemed very inefficient to me.

For KOA Holiday Chicago Northwest: Been awhile since we last visited and the owners continue to upgrade the campground. Lots of patio sites with fenced area for dogs along with patio swings. We stayed on one of the two available trailers. The Prowler on site 51 is an older trailer - and although clean - the rugs on the slides had lots of stains as did the bathroom floor. The other trailer on site 62 looked much newer. Site 51 shared the green space between sites with site 50. Nice if you are with whoever is in that site..... There were two new 4 person cabins with full bathrooms as well as a kitchen area along one wall One of the cabins had a very large private patio - the second shared space between sites with the adjoining RV site. There is a bath house towards the beck with 4 private showers. The prairie view pull through sites are by far the nicest pull throughs. The office and store were closed due to COVID but one could text the front desk and they would deliver whatever you wanted to buy.

For KOA Holiday Chicago Northwest: Nice campground in the IL country. Close to Chicago but far enough away to have it's own weather. Clean, well maintained, friendly staff. Only real complaint is distance from most of the campground to the child's playground. I would have put the playground in the middle of everything but it is at the far end of the camp. Also, wifi is barely adequate for most uses. If you drive to Chicago, highly recommend pre-purchasing parking from garage in vicinity of your destination.

For KOA Holiday Chicago Northwest: We were impressed by this campground. The sites are clean and well maintained. The showers and bathrooms are immaculate. No loud music a night. Abundance of things to do. A nice little pool that was unfortunately closed for the season. Good firewood. Well stocked camp store. Near Illinois Railway Museum and Wild West. Great playground and staff that was wonderfully polite... at least until we were getting ready to leave.
Understand that we are clean campers. We work hard to keep up our site, and to leave it cleaner than we found it. Was hard to do with this one... the only trash we found on the site was a single bottle cap!
We were loading the last little bit into our camper getting ready to leave. I was in the midst of folding and matching and hitching when I heard a voice shout from the road "trash goes in the dumpster!" It wasn't a tone of a polite reminder. It wasn't the tone of customer service. It was the tone of a raw and untempered demand for obedience.
The trash was neatly neatly gathered and bagged. It was the last thing to be loaded and disposed of at the dump station, and this person ( who I assume to be the owner based on the pictures at their website) sat on his golf cart and shouted his command from the road. Ina voice loud enough to turn every head to look at us. He stared, scowling until we collected the trash, then without so much as a thank you, sped away.
It is a great pity that such a nice campground must resort to such tactics, leaving me filled with resentment at the end of what had been a very nice weekend.
We had been planning to return in the spring, perhaps renting both a cabin and a site so my parents could join us. Now I'm not so sure.
Normally a poor customer service experience will reduce my review to two stars, but this campground is so nice, I'll deserves three. Just be aware that if you stay here you may experience rude treatment at the hands of a staff that feels the need to obsess over their rules to maintain their award winning status. If you can let such things pass you should have a very nice time.

For KOA Holiday Chicago Northwest: Second visit to this KOA. Busy weekend with a lot of people arriving at the same time. Rather than have a long line at the gate - folks with reservations were escorted directly to their site and told they could stop by the office later to handle paperwork. It was a nice touch and much appreciated. Tiled Bathrooms with nice showers. Lots of friendly staff around to make sure everyone had what they needed.

For KOA Holiday Chicago Northwest: We stayed for 4 days here in a 31 ft trailer. Although this is a clean and well manicured campground, we were disappointed in a few things. When we made the reservation, we were not told that there were several breeds of dogs not allowed here. This list is a long list of dog breeds, at least 7 breeds. When checking in, you cannot help but block the main entrance to the campground due to the very narrow entrance. Several times when we were leaving or returning to our campsite, the gate was completely blocked causing us to sit with others for up to 15 minutes at a time due to new guests checking in but with no way to get out of the way. The laundry is small and not air conditioned with only 3 washers and 4 dryers. There is only cold water in which to wash your clothes, but still $4 per load to wash and dry. When we asked about the cold water only, we were told they did not have enough warm water for showers and laundry. We were also told our son from Chicago had to pay $5 just to enter and visit us in our trailer. This KOA has a no refund policy for any reason so we did not seek another location during our stay. These policies are not like most of the KOAs in which we have stayed.
