For Blackwell Forest Preserve: This review is for the dump only. We got stuck with this option as we needed to dump on a holiday and the other options around were closed. This would be a fine dump if you’re camping here but if you aren’t the cost to dump is $30! No dump should cost $30.

For Blackwell Forest Preserve: Super well kept. Open weekends only (Fri night-Sunday checkout) They have converted site 33 to the fresh water fill station. Small and long hiking trails available, beautiful lake with no gas motors allowed. Firewood is almost always available and very inexpensive. We love it all- a win!

For Blackwell Forest Preserve: THE GATES ARE LOCKED FROM DUSK TILL DAWN!! We didn’t know this until we got there and it threw a huge wrench in our plans since we had Hamilton tickets that night. Very nice campground in a beautiful and convenient location, but the gates locking makes things very difficult for us as we like to get out and explore the cities we visit.

For Blackwell Forest Preserve: Great local campground and park. Can't beat how much firewood you get for the money. Well maintained and staffed. Only downside is noon checkout and only Weekend camping.
