For Crane MWR Campground: Stayed overnight while transiting and most of the other reviews are still relevant. The campground is isolated but the lake and surrounding area is very pretty. The campground is a uneven gravel parking lot and the spaces are tight. Many full timers here. Full hookups are available. The guards at the front gate of the base are unfriendly but the MWR staff and campground host are nice folks. When entering the main gate the signage is confusing and campers should enter through the right hand lanes or the gate guard will make you back up. The marina is old but has boats and kayaks to rent.

For Crane MWR Campground: The base itself is over run. The guard at the gate was more concerned with her cigarette than anything I had to ask. The sites are super close and there are two sewer hookups, both up hill. There is no Seckel service for any provider, and no WiFi or cable to make up for that. The staff was great, but made me feel like they were giving me a deal for being active duty. I wouldn’t stay there again. I have a 33ft tow behind and could barley get it in the site between me neighbors. No room for the vehicles, and bring leveling jacks. Probably the worst MWR facility I have ever seen.

ColD

For Crane MWR Campground: As the pervious rater has stated the base is very spread out and it over 7 miles from the main gate to the RV sites. The campground is down in a valley and there is no cell service from AT&T, Sprint, or Verizon...we have all three. Also no over the air TV channels either...we have Direct TV and so had TV. We only spent one night due to no cell coverage. The Navy lnn person said that the base was looking at putting WiFi in the campground which would be a major improvement.
The sites are all gravel pull throughs with no privacy between campers. There is a small Commissary which will fill most campers needs.

aldera

For Crane MWR Campground: This is a very spread out base. You check in at the Navy Gateway Inn and Suites front desk that is several miles from the actual campground. The lady checking us in was very friendly. The campground itself is very basic. Pretty much a long, but very flat gravel surface with a majority of pull-through sites. We had water, sewer and 50A service. Plenty of room to pull in a large motorhome. The shower house was an old cinder-block building. Not the most modern looking, but it was fairly clean. You're only 100 yards from the marina where you can rent boats, kayaks, etc. You're definitely out in the wilderness and miles from the base services like the commissary or exchange. They looked pretty small. The only other thing to mention is the final road to the campground. It's about 1.5 miles long and narrow, winding and hilly. You can barely fit 2 cars, side by side. I have a 40' motorhome and I was pulling my car. If another camper was coming from the other direction, one of us would have to back up to the beginning because there are essentially no shoulders to pull over to. I made a short video of that road that you can see at: https://youtu.be/DADEC6kZmmA.

For Crane MWR Campground: Reading the previous reviews, I feel like I was at a different place. The Crane MWR Campground, in my opinion, is great! Yes, it's small - maybe a dozen sites, mostly pull thru's, right in a row on a gravel base. But it is located in the middle of a virgin forest, surrounded by tall trees, and 100 yards from a very nice (small) marina with good fishing and rentals on a beautiful 800 acre lake. The campground also has a half dozen small really nice cabins and pavilions scattered around the RV area, back in the woods. I guess if you come expecting Disney, you might be disappointed. But we thought it was well maintained, clean, and a great location.

Mike

For Crane MWR Campground: Crane military campground.
The young lady who took our reservation was very friendly.
We received a phone call about 6pm on our arrival date asking if we were still coming. We told her we were about an hour out.
Arrived via I69 Crane, Bloomfield exit. Have to check in at the navy lodge/motel, no big deal just a little out of the way.
This is an ominous eerie place. Very isolated.
Lots of concrete buildings, WW2 era. They do secret stuff up here and I really don't want to know what.
Very small active military presence. While we were visiting some National Guard/reservists on annual training were hanging at the smallest exchange I've ever seen.

The campground is a mess. Far too crowded to handle it's capability to support the occupants.
Lots of full timers. Appears to be civil service workers staking out a claim.
This place is very rural. It doesn't appear they have many constraints or rules at least ones they are enforcing! Some of the sites are trashy. Yep, MWR trashy!
Needs to be cleaned up to meet Military Campground quality.

Weather has been rough and there's been lots of rain in this area, the roads are full of ruts no one has tried to put down some gravel to fix it.
The sites are totally unorganized we had site 3 but the guy in site 4 had pushed himself into our site. He did move his truck so we could get in.
It took us close to an hour to get into our assigned site just to find out that the motor home next to us had both electrical connections hooked up to his big ol 35+ foot motor home. Yep, he was taking up electric to 2 sites. So to say this place is not set up properly and mismanaged is an understatement.
It's very tight and there's a ditch that if you're not careful you may end up in.
Navy MWR if you are going to have an RV park at least manage it professionally. These are not full time camper spaces.
Did I say anything about cell service or WIFI? Non existent! Forget about it.
Not going back. It's a trailer ghetto.

Camping for fun

For Crane MWR Campground: We stayed a week. The staff was wonderful. Very helpful. We had trouble with electricity. It worked for 5 days then for unknown reasons we were limited - were unable to use front air or outlets. Another camper there told us they had the same problem at that spot. There had been recent heavy rains and the camping area had not been fixed. Also had to travel about 30 minutes to any town and the base was limited on their services. We originally stayed there to get medication refilled but they did not provide that service. Is great place to stay if you just want to get away and enjoy camping and fishing because any sites you wish to visit is a long ways away.
