For Windy Hollow Camp and Recreation: Gorgeous property, friendly owners, beach is terrific. Purposely keep occupancy lower than others would do to this property. Owners were lovely. Took my wife on a golf cart tour of the place. We will be back!

For Windy Hollow Camp and Recreation: We had a wonderful time at this gorgeous campground. Our site was spacious overlooking 2 lakes that had great catch and release fishing. The owner escorts you to your site and helps you park, which at first seemed strange, but boy, was it nice! There are a few quirks to this place, including no site numbers (thus why they have to escort you), not every site has fire rings, and picnic tables aren’t on your site. Everyone was very friendly, and we would definitely stay at this beautiful property again.

For Windy Hollow Camp and Recreation: I have never left a review anywhere before, but I will today after reading the owners bogus response to a lady on Google. I have lived in Owensboro over 40 years and so has most my family. The retired Afghan war military person they claim to have at their grounds is a joke. Just because somebody throws stickers on their truck doesn't give facts. I know the exact person you are taking about in the black Ford truck. I finally found out where he was staying so I can start collecting my money and I will. I worked on his house and met him personally. I did over $2000 worth of work on his house and he never paid me. He just bought a house a few months ago in Lake Forest subdivision and just up and left his wife and child there before they were even unpacked or moved in. This poor kid wasn't even enrolled into school yet. When my buddy and I were working and we seen his wife crying outside because he treated her like a dog. He had her lifting and doing things that no man should ever watch his woman do. He treated her like she was nothing. While we were there working at the house he left her for days and refused to answer any of her phone calls or text messages so I could even complete the job I was hired for. She didn't even know where her husband was and she seemed use to it. I had to call him from MY phone to get an answer. That was the second time in less than 30 days that I know for a fact he left her and the kid since I was hired. Owensboro is not that big and when you are not from here and you leave a woman and child like that, this community helps out. * I will leave the names out but my wife and myself along with my church and have been helping his wife and daughter. That Afghan hero you talk about on Google just up and left his wife and kid when they never even lived here in their life and didn't even know where anything was. He just up and left his family before they were even unpacked and left her with a huge bill for my work. I had to go try to find the guy so I can collect my money. His current wife wouldn't help me out she claims she didn't know where he was but I found his ex wife who lives in Illinois. She informed me he was released from the Army early because he cheated on his wife because she reported him to the military for being a alcoholic and messing with a under age little girls. The child's grandmother did not press charges. She also informed me that he was arrested and served time in jail for giving alcohol to a minor in Illinois. She gave me the phone number to his mother in Illinois and his mother informed me she has no contact with her son and wants none at all. She said that herself and his biological child have a protective order against him in Illinois and that his family wants nothing to do with him. I did some digging on this guy because I want my money! Apparently he has a history that deserves some digging into. The lady lives off the scraps he gives her and her child every month to survive. His wife has health issues so she can't even work! No man does what he's doing and I am fine with saying that he is no man of God. His older brother informed me that the Afghan military person in the black truck will pray with you holding your hands while wanting and looking at your wife, daughter or child. His brother also told me he was only in the National Guard. I don't think you know who you speak about but I suggest you speak to his ex wife, mother, daughter, brother or even his sister. Better yet, if you are Christian go knock on his wife's door a few miles down the road in Lake Forest and see if you can help her and her kid he left out. I met him personally and I know how he spoke down to me and how he treated and spoke to his wife and child. Make sure your grounds are safe from the right people and put two and two together. His story doesn't add up. It use to be a lot better out there years ago I grew up going out there as a child. I realize Covid it is going on but nobody can be that hard up for money to allow a predator on their premises. They use to be picky on who they allowed on the grounds. Stickers on a truck and a story don't make it a fact, it doesn't even make somebody a good person. I know because I thought he would pay me. Let him know that I will be getting my money with the courts help now that I know exactly where he is at.

For Windy Hollow Camp and Recreation: This is a beautiful place to stay. We almost passed it because of a poor review. They were very accommodating and helpful in backing our camper into a site. The only critique I would have is they set their rates and maintain consistency. We will return.

WINDY HOLLOW CAMPGROUND
Location is outside of owensboro kentucky.
Off Highway 81.
5141 Windy Hollow Rd
Owensboro, KY 42301.
This resort is absolutely the worst that a person could go to with their family and camper. Please warn anyone you know to never go camping there.
The owners there are rude, they will charge you a higher price than what's on there website, not to mention it depends on how much they want to charge you when you show up. Everyone is not charged the same. It doesn't matter if you got 30 amp or 50 amp. I was charge $50 a day with 30 amp for 2 people for 3 days total $150, while someone else camping with us with 30 amp with 4 people he was charged $160 for 3 days. She charges $10 for each additional person per day when over 2 in the party. The owners math that they use is something that they have themselves developed and other people do not use. You are not allowed to put you mat out they tell you it may kill their grass. Put mat only on gravel which there is not any spots with gravel. They pick up twigs and wood around camp ground then wants to charge you for that same firewood.
Oh did I mention that having a fire will cost you extra also.
So if this is not enough there is more. Went to empty grey tank and guess what? Overflowing. We informed owners who said yes there overloaded over on that side. There was only 2 campers on full hookup. We were told after by owners after paying $50 a day to Just go use the bathhouse. Are you kidding me.? Final day went to dump station. Dumped tanks went to rinse and pad lock on hydrant, that way if you need to rinse she will charge you again to dump.
Thank God we don't live that far away so we were able to just come home and rinse with our tote. Others were not so fortunate.
You may ask why I stayed. We were camping with family and these owners will refuse to give you any refund.
Would not give my sister a refund on a seasonal spot when she was just there 2 weeks. So the owners told her they will keep her $1,300 so she would be forced to stay.
My sister is a veteran so this behavior by these owners are inexcusable.
We informed the owners that I was going to post this review on all my social media outlets and pages to give the owners a chance to correct these problems.
They however could care less. These owners only care about the green they can get from you. Oh also it's check our cash nothing else accepted. You will regret if you ever pull into this camp ground. I try to make sure to help anyone from making the same mistake that we did. We have another campground around Owensboro Kentucky called Diamond Lake Resort. By all means go there anywhere but Windy Hollow Campground.
