For Hidden Oaks Family Campground: New owners. Friendly folks. Now spacious gravel sites. Shower/bathrooms adequate. Nice little pool. Quiet, good amount of trees Native peahens and peacocks—how cool would return here if passing thru area

For Hidden Oaks Family Campground: Hidden Oaks, Hammond, Louisiana - We found this place through PA, I had to look in the book afterwards to figure out where they hid all of the amenities. I should explain that this was just a one night stay and we never unhooked. We called ahead to make a reservation, obviously that wasn't necessary. When we arrived we were told to pick a spot, no discounts on a Saturday night so the cost was $44.80 including tax. The office was very unwelcoming and dark (there was a small retail area but the lights were turned off)did not offer a map or a hint where to find anything. We walked over to the pull-thru/ back in area to find our spot. We picked the one that had the most gravel. We were the only ones there that night! The park was very dark, only one security light at the far end. In the morning I took a walk to check out what I thought might be a bath/shower building but you can see it was padlocked. Our advice is to keep driving. If it rains and you are there you may never get out. We think they cater more to the permanent residents on the other side of the office and the seasonal business they get from their beach.

For Hidden Oaks Family Campground: Well the oaks really are beautiful but otherwise this campground is seriously lacking. No WiFi and no cable, but you can get a lot of stations on the antenna. Road is gravel. Sites are grass which is nice except when it rains and then there is mud every where. The map they provide sucks It looks like it is about the 100 copy of a copy, blurry and unreadable. The streets have no signs on them and the camp sites are horribly marked and hard to find with no escort so you are really on your own. Bathrooms are dated but were clean. Afraid I will not return here.

For Hidden Oaks Family Campground: We arrived and we were told we could park in the center section as some we're 50 amp and all were pull throughs which we needed for our class A motorhome and toad. It was a grassy field. One road (the pull though road) was barricaded because there were water filled ruts; the primary road that locals use in the park was also rutted and sandy. This lead to these sites and the river beach area. The sites were not marked on this side of the road so we had to get out to read where the 50 amp sites were which were circled on the map provided. The power poles ran down this side of the road and some were leaning so it looked as though they may not be high enough to go under them, but actually they were fine. The field site parking was not. The grass had't been mowed and you could tell that during rains the field flooded. The grass was all on its side. It hadn't rained that day so we were fine. Our space had some stone on it although it was grass-covered. There was a river and beach described on their site that was also available for day use by anyone and there were many trucks and cars parked down there. We noticed at dusk a police car down at the beach area waiting for everyone to leave. That doesn't provide one with a warm feeling. After everyone left that area we walked down to see the river and beach. It was littered with glass bottles and hundreds of bottle caps were on the ground in the picnic area. You could tell very minimal maintenance was done here or in all the park. Trash cans overflowed. The beach was sand with river access and it could be a place to cool off but not what I would describe as even nice. It was rustic. I can't discuss the showers, restrooms or laundry because we didn't use them we have all those necessities on board. We stayed another day as it is usually our travel mode. It did rain and just as I thought the field flooded covering our door mat. The dogs didn't even want to go out.
If terms of friendliness - they were
Maintenance and upkeep - lacking
Would I return - NO
