For Goose Creek Recreation Area: Way off the beaten path but close to a friend. It was also hard to find because our GPS took us to the office on the opposite side of the very large base. Site was level, private, shady, and close to the bay and excellent bike paths. Water and electric but no sewer but only $21 a night. We stayed in a 43ft motorhome

For Goose Creek Recreation Area: Gorgeous, wayyyyy out there campground right on the Chesapeake Bay. Great spot for fishing if thats your thing. SUPER quiet, almost creepy quiet. Stayed for 3 days. Spot E6 (dry camp). 12-14APR19. Little to no mosquitoes. Restrooms/bathhouse surprisingly quite clean. Hot water in showers! Did not meet the camp host. Paid $15.75 per night for dry camp (site E6).

For Goose Creek Recreation Area: We are full-time RVers in a 32’ 5th Wheel. We have stayed in many Corps of Engineers (COE) campgrounds, most of which have just electric and water, just like Goose Creek. However, Goose Creek was no where near up to par with the COE campgrounds we have experienced nor the other military campgrounds we have experienced. We had reservations for 19 nights…we stayed two. The site (A3) was as advertised: 30amp electric with water. It was plenty big, but not maintained. The biggest problems we had were: 1. Mosquitoes. They must have learned from the test pilot school at PAX River how to attack in formation, because there was no sitting outside without being attacked full force! And 2. The only dump station was 2.5 miles away. Pulling a blue tote 2.5 miles in base traffic, not to mention across an active runway and taxiway, was not my idea of fun. Additionally, every other site on our loop (except for the camp host who also worked full time) were active duty geographic bachelors. Nothing against active duty geographic bachelors, but the result was no one was around, period. Also, there were no amenities…dog parks, walking paths, nothing. The bathroom/shower was at the campground entrance which could be a 5-10 minute walk and they were nothing to get excited about. The camp host did tell us the best time to be there was around October and I believe him (he has lived there six years). The base does have a nice commissary and NEX and all the other amenities. If you are in the area for a particular event and need a place for a few days at a very reasonable price, I guess this would be fine. This simply is not the typical famcamp that you would expect on a military installation. We ended up moving to the Navy Recreation Center Campground at Solomons, MD (only about five miles away and also under PAX River NAS) and have been very happy.

For Goose Creek Recreation Area: Great place to go away and yet is close to home. The staff was extremely helpful and polite over the phone. Terry oversees the grounds and the permits. He is a great fit for the position. Super nice guy and the grounds were impeccable. We plan to go back whenever we can to escape the daily grind and have fun with family.

For Goose Creek Recreation Area: Stayed for 5 nights. Staff was fantastic and the on-site coordinator, "Terry" was great. A CWO5, retired. Wish he could have stayed in, the military lost a good one when Terry retired. Everyone was so helpful and yet respected our privacy. Its the latter part of April, no bugs to speak of, air temp perfect, quiet and peaceful. Just what the doctor ordered. Would love to come back and stay longer. The Head was a little spartan. Fine for us old Marines/Sailors but not quite there for my Princess. Overall, very restful. A big "BZ" to all the staff that run the program. Nice large lots but no WiFi... A little bit of a bummer but we had our 4g iphones and ipads so all was well. Would absolutely give this RV park a big "thumbs up".
