For Riverway - William O Brien State Park: We were looking for a campground convenient to the Twin Cities for a couple of days. We're self contained and don't use the facilities. We stayed here on Saturday and Sunday nights.
There are 2 campgrounds in O'Brien State Park - Savanna at the top of the hill and Riverside near the St. Croix river. Both had a variety of sites, most were shady, some had more sun. Most had electric. Both were full on Saturday night and nearly empty on Sunday night.
We stayed at Riverside. This is a nice campground, 40 minutes from UofM. We arrived after a day of hard rains, and some of the sites were muddy. There was no cell phone coverage at Riverside, although there was a weak, usable signal at Savanna and the visitor center. Despite signs to the contrary, there was no usable wifi at either campground.
There were lots of hiking trails in this park and a fun small interpretative center.
