For North Abutment: Great park, either for an overnight stop (less than 10 minutes from I-55), or a week of enjoying the outdoors. Tons of space between sites, Great lake views from most sites, proximity to at least 3 hiking trails and some historical forts. Fabulous birding if that’s your thing.
The facilities are no-frills as far as pools or Wi-Fi, but I got 2 good bars on ATT, and the relaxing, natural beauty The hosts are easy to find and very helpful. They keep the grounds up very nicely.

For North Abutment: We’re full time rvers now but have camped our whole lives and this is the best campground ever! Beautiful and clean park , spacious level sites and a camp host that is present and active. Rules are enforced. We loved this park and will return !

For North Abutment: One day’s trip out of New Orleans and we found this gem. Campsites are far apart, level and have lots of trees. Electric and water only on the lakefront, but full hookups up the hill (still a lake view). Each site has a fire pit, grill, grill table and picnic table built in. Definitely returning ðŸ‘

For North Abutment: in a word ..wonderful. Site 7 for this quick trip in transit April 2021. It’s a pull through with level concrete pad up a little hill with a view of water. Many OTA TV Channels. Verizon 3 bars. AT&T 2 bars. We’ll be back for a longer stay for sure!

For North Abutment: This is our second trip there, once in Sept (Labor day) and this weekend (11/20/2020)
As expected this is an EXCELLENT place to camp.
For labor day we stayed in sites 57 and 58 (no sewer) and had a great time, we enjoyed the family quiet campground and the views of the beautiful lake, local hiking trails as well as the bike riding.
The weekend before 2020 Thanksgiving we statyed in sites 17 and 18 (THE LAKE GETS DRAINED IN FALL, NO LAKE TO VIEW), all though the lake was gone the grand kids enjoyed playing on the lake bed, it was like a huge beach.
The whole area is clean especially the bathhouses. This is our second time, there will be a third.
