For Grandfather Mountain Campground: We were placed on the hillside where the gravel roads were rough and tree limbs needed cut for a 12 ft. high 37 ft. Motorhome. Sharp turns required. Most sites were level, but small, close together and poorly engineered with sewer drains higher than the motorhome drains. Water and other “stuff†flows downhill, not uphill, the last I knew. WiFi was sporadic at best and no cable. TV antenna was useless in mountains. I won’t say never, but will think twice about returning. Unfortunately we saw nothing any better in the area.

For Grandfather Mountain Campground: Staff is great. One star rating is due to safety concerns: hoke in dog park fencing and no water available. Sites are level for RVs but no space for people. Was in a site where I needed a walking stick to get around safely. Roads were designed by someone who never drove a big-rig. Bathhouse and laundry needed to be serviced

For Grandfather Mountain Campground: If I could give place a ZERO rating I would. This place is HORRIBLE! Uneven sites, water and sewer in the wrong place. Roads are way too narrow and turns way to tight for an RV more than 32 feet. Staff sent me to my site that I could not possibly fit my 40 foot RV into. Tried to contact office and they were closed at 4:30. Emergency number had no voicemail. In desperation, we moved to another site but the turn was so tight that I ripped a basement door right off the RV and scrapped the side the rest of the way. Probably $5000 in damages. If it was legal, I’d burn this place to the ground!!!!!!
STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS

For Grandfather Mountain Campground: Good location, friendly staff and level, gravel sites. The sites are a bit small and the grass needs to be cut more often. I would stay here again.

For Grandfather Mountain Campground: Stayed here for a month. Very nice scenery. Most places of interest were closed because of the flu. Park has good WiFi. They put me up in A79, which was a bit of a chore backing out of, but not the end of the world. There is a water faucet that has free drinking water. It tasted a little bit earthy for my taste, but my water pitcher filter made it taste good. Big bonus for the free drinking water. There is a nice little stream with a picnic area. At the entrance. There is a trout farm that you can fish at near the entrance for a fee. They have two washers and dryers. It rained pretty much constantly here, but it was nice. Price for a month was $550. They have short term rentals, but not when I went, because of the flu. I’d definitely stay here again.

For Grandfather Mountain Campground: Dec 2019 - Stayed one night in 30 amp spot for $35.
Pros: Staff was very friendly, helpful & responsive.
Cons: Site was gravel, EXTREMELY un-level, and difficult to access. Thankfully our RV is 23 ft long. I’m not sure how or if longer rigs would be able to access the site we were in (79).

For Grandfather Mountain Campground: RV sites were very close together. Tent sites are spacious. I was in a tent site but did not have to erect a tent. I camped in my minivan. My site was fairly level. I gave it 4 stars because there were only a few bath houses. If you are in a tent, it is a long walk to a bath house at night.
