For Vanderpool Campground: Worst execution of a campground we’ve ever seen! The entire place was a mud pit. It was so muddy, we couldn’t even back up in a relatively flat site without our drive axle spinning. This campground is not Big Rig Friendly. After the terrible experience of trying to get into the muddy campsite, we got stuck in the mud trying leave this poor excuse for a campground. We had to call a tow truck to pull us out. Once on the asphalt road, a big rig has to do a three point turn to make a left on 421 from Vanderpool Rd. There needs to be a stop to these terrible campground conditions. The owner has no idea how to properly run a reputable campground and lies to your face about it being big rig friendly. We’ve been bless to have camped in all 49 continental States and we’ve never encountered such a dump.

Christmas

For Vanderpool Campground: First you have to get by the office. The office is a mess (hoarder). Signing in took more time than I wanted. The campsite has a lot of permanent or seasonal units. Some spots are available for temporary stays. The laundry room and restrooms and showers are in one large metal building that is next to office. The sites do have grass and some trees between them and most have a wooden or cement deck. The parking spaces are grass with some gravel. When I backed in I did switched to 4 wheel drive since it had rained in the last couple of days. The main road is above the Campground so you do have some road noise, but the road is curvy enough to discourage large semi traffic. I would presume the traffic will almost disappear at night. It has a mix of nice rigs and also some dilapidated rigs with the awning flapping in the breeze. Most don't have junk around them but those that do have look trashy. The Campground is surrounded by hills. We did have a good WiFi signal but it was slow. We also had a couple of bars on t-mobile and AT&T. We have a mobile satellite dish that was able to pick up all the satellites. We understand that the college TV is the only over the air that you can get. We were charged $38.

Update.

I did check out the shower and rest rooms. They were clean and seemed to be very functional. When I checked in the staff was friendly enough, but I noticed she did have to look my way to hear me so I have a feeling she might be hard of hearing and has to use read lips to increase her listening skills. If you are in to plants she has a lot of them and she has a greenhouse on the side of the office.

I checked the rates on their website and thought the following rate information was helpful. The cost of storing a rig was very reasonable and the thought of storing your rig and only paying $16 a day when you are using it seemed very reasonable.

From website 4/2018
RV Storage
