For KOA Holiday Carlsbad: This is a very nice KOA as in modern and up to date. It is clean and the sites are spacious. It gets a 3-star because it is a KOA as in Keep on Adding... Additional charge for a granddaughter traveling with us. $10 extra for checking in an hour early, when the campground was essentially empty. Another downside is location. It is located a good 10 to 12 miles north of town and every restaurant/gas station "civilization" and over 30-miles from the Caverns. If in the we ever need a campground in Carlsbad again we will look for other options. Let me state for the record that I am NOT a KOA fan. It is that Keep on Adding that drives me away.

For KOA Holiday Carlsbad: This was the second time we have stayed here extended and just love the campground and the staff. We were here for four months this time. The grounds are clean and neat and 90% of sites are pull throughs. Plenty of space between sites. Will definitely stay here again and again.

For KOA Holiday Carlsbad: Very nice park, quiet area, super staff. We stayed 3 nights, ordered BBQ twice and filled our propane tank. We didn’t use any other facilities in the park. Everything was great. Thanks to the friendly staff including Nancy, Kara, Tom, Al and Dakota. It is a long drive to the Carlsbad Caverns but we knew that before booking.

For KOA Holiday Carlsbad: I was surprised to see less than five star reviews here. Complaints about bathrooms, smell, taste of water was not what I experienced. Very spacious sites, great water pressure, great electric and a very friendly staff. If you want access to Guadalupe NP, Carlsbad NP and White Sands NP, then this is a good launching point. Carlsbad nearby has everything you need to stock up on to refresh supplies and don’t miss Sitting Bull Falls. I was here mid June2021.

For KOA Holiday Carlsbad: (6/05/21) Very nice campground. Clean well maintained and quiet. You better follow the rules! lol These folks are super nice and helpful. They offer lunches and dinners, delivered. If we go back we'll be staying there again. Windy area, dry and in June, HOT.

For KOA Holiday Carlsbad: Excellent customer care, nice clean, flat sites. Ordered dinner first night and got a great meal of smoked pork with all the trimmings delivered to our campsite for only $12.95. We were only going to stay one night but decided to stay a second one and use the laundry facilities. Very clean and well functioning machines. Would recommend this KOA.

Two For the Road

For KOA Holiday Carlsbad: We stayed here for one night, although we were supposed to stay her for the whole week. We have developed a sort of checklist of things to consider at RV Parks. Bathrooms are first, and in this case the bathrooms were OK. Not outstanding, just ok. Plenty of hot water, clean, and private showers were all pluses. Nothing negative really to say, just could use some remodeling and updating. Next up is staff, and in this case the staff was excellent. That contributed to the park getting 4 stars, not just 3. Next up is laundry, and in this case it was ridiculous. $2.50 a load to wash, but at least the dryer worked great and dried with only about $1.00. Finally, we had to leave after one night dues to the petro-chemical/Sulplhur smell that made us both a little sick. When we arrived there was no smell, but when we opened the door that night to take the puppies out, it was downright horrible. The smell persisted all through the night, and into the next day, and Like said it made us both a little sick, so we had to leave the park. The staff was excellent, and actually refunded us our money for the rest of the stay. This fact alone allowed us to rate them 4-stars. Overall this park is not bad, about what you expect from a KOA. The smell drove us away, but other people there seemed to not mind, and the owner stated that it was not harmful, it came because of the refinery a little north when the wind was right, and that most times it doesn't really bother people. The ultimate recommendation is would we stay there again, and the answer is yes, cautiously depending on if that smell was there or not.
