For KOA Journey Reno Boomtown: 2 night stay. Due to Covid and I guess less staff, the bathrooms are closed at 7pm, so your RV must be self contained. The bathrooms are very clean and very nice, There are trees giving shade in some of the sites. There’s a casino with restaurants within a 10 minute walk. The pool was lovely. Every staff member was kind and helpful. Charlene was extra kind in moving us to a site with a little more shade, closer to the bathroom and office. Thank you Charlene. We stayed here on our way to Oregon, this was a 2 day stop over. Lake Tahoe is 70 miles south.

For KOA Journey Reno Boomtown: My husband like to go here because he like to sit and watch the trains go by the Truckee River. That’s the only draw. The place is poorly taken care of, things that are broken don’t get fixed for a long time, we have requested a specific site twice and got in there to find out that it was given away. The only reason we go there is to stop and watch the trains and this is the best site to do it from. It’s not like we’re just passing through. It’s a destination for a couple of days just to get away. For the first couple of years, we had a pop-up with no bathroom, so we were 100% dependent upon the bathrooms in the facility. Unfortunately, all but one bathroom are inside the office, so when it’s closed, they are inaccessible. And that remaining bathroom that’s open 24 hours has a shower in it. So if you need to go to the bathroom and there’s someone in there taking a long shower, you’ve got a problem. I talked to a new manager who said that they were working on the problems, but that was about 3-4 years ago and nothing’s changed. We tried to use the swimming pool once and it was filthy and disgusting. And the space we liked used to have grass, but they shut off the water and now it’s all loose dirt. Very unpleasant. And they have long-term residents scattered about the park. We were put in a space ones that had wind chimes all over it. They were very cute, but who can sleep with wind wind chimes banging around in the middle of the night. They belong to the camper in the next space but she had taken over the space that we were given. So we tore them down with the help of the security guard. He damaged several of them and I felt really bad for her. And next to the space that we do like, a long-term or moved in and took over three spaces with garbage. Just spread out. It’s felt like Dogpatch back there. We’re done with it! There are a couple of nice people in the office, especially the woman who is there in the afternoon to check in time with a shoulderlength gray page boy, and The woman who was there in the daytime who used to live in Willits, where we used to live. They were the reason for the second star. Otherwise this is a one star place.

For KOA Journey Reno Boomtown: We’ve stayed here before. Since we have a dog, we like to stay near the dog walk. In my reservations, I specifically put on the comments we wanted to be near the dog walk. When I arrived, were were assigned to be on the other side of the park. So I had to pay extra for a pull through (instead of a back in one) to be 3 rows away. Come to find out, spots K33 & K34 (which the staff told me that row is now available), stayed open during our entire stay. The grass in most other spots are very minimal. So I may stay here again, but I will think twice before doing so and may go up to Gold Ranch RV park instead.

For KOA Journey Reno Boomtown: 1st time RV’er here. I don’t have too many complaints on this location. However, the water spicket leaked a little bit, but nothing major. The park seemed clean overall, and yes, there were some kids running around. But wouldn’t that be normal for a family friendly RV park? The location of the campground is quite aways from the casino itself if you were wanting to walk it. About 1/2 mile or so from KOA to the casino, and all uphill. They do have a shuttle van, but you have to go up to the office to catch it. The other gripe I have is that the WiFi is horrible! I have very strong signal from the WiFi, but there is hardly any data speed coming from it. I ran a Speedtest to find out that the download speed is 1.6mbps and speedtest.com couldn’t even detect an upload speed. This is very sad.

For KOA Journey Reno Boomtown: First time RV’er for me. I enjoyed Boomtown KOA for the most part. The water spicket did leak a little bit, but nothing major. My biggest gripe would be that the Boomtown Casino is quite a ways away if you wanted to walk there. They do have shuttle service to and from, but you catch the shuttle van at the office near the entrance of KOA. The casino about 1/2 mile or so from the KOA and all up hill at that. If Boomtown planned it better, they should have open some roads/trails from the KOA property to the Casino. If they did that, they are practically next door to each other property wise. Campground seems to be picked up from what I could tell. Yes, there are kids that play around, but for a family friendly campground, shouldn’t that be normal?

For KOA Journey Reno Boomtown: I agree with most of the other reviews. Trash does overflow and kids run around being kids. We've been here for work almost 3 months.no electricity/water issues although our spigot has leaked since we've been here and hasn't been repaired. Overall, staff has been friendly/helpful but they could spend less time smoking and more time picking up trash/dog waste. The sites here are very close to each other but overall, it's been quiet.

For KOA Journey Reno Boomtown: Being new to the rv park scene, we are learning that KOA means substandard in almost every way. We'd been at bordertown rv for three days as we traveled around the area. It's august in reno, so we have to leave at least one or two A/Cs on for the cats while we're gone. No problem at Bordertown. Every time we get back, it's like a meat locker in the bus. Move to koa, plug in, even put awnings out, and head out for a couple of hours. Get back and A/Cs are cycling so low, compressor can't kick on. Fortunately, we're well insulated and had awnings out, otherwise - cooked kitties. Don't sell 50 amp if you can't supply it. We could be parked free at the cabelas next door since we have to run the generator anyway.

And of course the blowing trash, kids running all over unsupervised, etc mentioned in the other reviews.
