For KOA Holiday Deerpark New York City: Let me start by saying something nice…this campground is in a great location, with a great layout, and has a lot of potential. Unfortunately, this is where the niceties end. It almost seems like this campground is purposely being allowed to deteriorate. It is simply not maintained; the roads are bad campsites and bathrooms are dirty, and the playground equipment is older than I am. Now problems occur, as they did for me, but it’s how they are handled that makes the difference. At most KOA’s, you call the number and someone comes to help you. In this campground’s case, this isn’t even possible. Their phone number doesn’t even give you an option to speak to a live person; it just refers you to email and their website. How this campground is allowed to call itself a KOA, let alone a KOA Holiday, escapes me completely.

For KOA Holiday Deerpark New York City: Avoid this park if possible. This is a large KOA and it looks as if at one time it was a very nice park but the current operators are letting it go. Nothing is maintained. Campsites are not cleaned after being used. Yet they charge you if you leave unburned firewood in the fire pit. Grass needs to be cut. Numerous deep, large puddles and pot holes. The water spigots if bracket breaks they don’t fix it they just bungee cord it. Employees would rather you weren’t there, just send them your money. No cable service even though it is advertised. They will not answer their phone, if you call they just tell you to go to the website. THEY DO NOT PROVIDE ANY CUSTOMER SERVICE beyond the bare necessity. I saw many people get lost coming in. Yet they charged me $106 per night. This is a $35 per night campground!!!!
Read directions for approaching. If you are a large medium RV you should us the I-17, Hwy 209 approach and turn down Canal road.

For KOA Holiday Deerpark New York City: Had high expectations and was disappointed. Initial impression is good until you get past main entrance. Tons of large pot holes on muddy roads. Grass was excessively high. So disappointed as I am a loyal KOA user. Will not stay here again. Upkeep was poor and it shows.

For KOA Holiday Deerpark New York City: Office workers are very friendly and helpful. Sites are large but not laid out very well; water, sewer and electric are far apart. WiFi difficult to use. No TV, coax cables laying all over the ground; was told cable will be fixed next month but then told we had to rent a box to get TV. I don't go camping to watch TV so no problem but it is a strange situation. Many sites had broken sewer connections. No hot water in bathrooms. Most features not open, e.g., pool, clubhouse. Beautiful river location. Do not follow GPS to take NY Exit 2 from I84 as a very narrow road coming down a mountain; bad on brakes and we were lucky no one was coming the other way. Come through Port Jarvis and put up with the traffic!

For KOA Holiday Deerpark New York City: This is a very nice campground! The bathrooms are private. Each contains a toilet, sink and shower. Did not use the pool, but looked fine as we drove by. The camping sites are grass, so may be a problem in a very rainy season.

For KOA Holiday Deerpark New York City: This place is a dump. Park looks like its falling apart. There were hundreds of open spaces around us yet our visitors could not drive to our site. They had to park in an "overflow parking lot" and walk to our site. The park was virtually deserted so this made no sense. Also charge $8 per visitor if they stay more than 2 hrs. Pool was grotesque and that's putting it mildly. Pool is just a slick plastic liner inside a wood frame. The liner was old, moldy, and pulling away from the sides. Filthy. Dirt laying at the bottom and actually forming dirt balls, which I've never seen before. Was so slick you had to use water shoes to stay upright in it. Wasnt cleaned at all during the four days we were there. On the Fourth day, there was about an 8 inch frog laying dead in the bottom. Wish we could share our pics with you. Way overpriced. The only positive thing was that our site was large.
