For Champoeg State Heritage Area: Champoeg is what I want out of a state park. Large well managed semi-forested open spaces. Spacious back ins well placed to maximize distance between campsites. Lots of maintained walking trails. The river, right there. Modern interesting play structures for the kids. Tons of flat paved trails to walk/bike. Clean modern bathrooms with private room showers. 100 Curses for whomever bought nozzles instead of regulars shower heads for the state parks. Verizon Wifi is solid here. 20 minutes from the suburbs of Portland but you feel like you are in the middle of no where. Loop B has twice as long slabs for larger rigs but A is shaded by old oak trees, is closers to everything and has larger bathrooms.

For Champoeg State Heritage Area: Champoeg is such a beautiful spot, but the park really needs to fix the sewage issue, or just shut down the dump station. We have been to many RV parks all over the country and have never encountered this level of air contamination. It made our week-long stay considerably less enjoyable as the sewage stench overtook Loop A to a nauseating degree. The line of RV that were dumping was persistent and made breathing almost intolerable at times.

For Champoeg State Heritage Area: This is a close park to us, so it is easy to visit. From reading the other reviews, I will start off with the Dump Station is open. We stayed in A38 which is the outer ring of the A Loop. The spots are somewhat tight, but less so on the even number sites. We had a nice overlook view of a meadow. The kids playground is great, there is an off leash dog run area, plenty of walking and biking trails, and a disc golf course. It would be nice if there was river access to swim, but they terrain doesn’t seem suitable.
The B loop doesn’t seem to have as many trees as A loop, but the spots do seem bigger.

For Champoeg State Heritage Area: By all means reserve in Loop B. Loop A is very tight but even numbered sites are a much better choice. Were there for 4 nights and couldn’t get away from sewage smell. Stay away from A39. It also been well over a year with no dump station. Not one of Oregon’s best.

For Champoeg State Heritage Area: Nice park right on the river. Theres a big day use area away from camping areas. A great playground for kiddos. Quiet park with level asphalt sites. Ive stayed a couple times, I have not been disappointed. The sites are 30 amp, no sewer, except in a very few sites. The dump is closed for renovating until 2/15/2019 I think, but there are places nearby to dump. The water actually tastes good! I forgot bottled water, no filter, so I had to drink from the hookup. I was surprised. Friendly staff. Close to a pretty decent size city (about 10 min from costco) in case you forgot something.

For Champoeg State Heritage Area: A very spacious park with great trees and grass undergrowth. We can see why early settlers built here. The sites are nicely spaced with vegetation separating many of the sites. The sites are level. Would be a good family place with lots of places to play and run. Quiet and clean. We would stay here again.
