For KOA Journey Jonestown: A staff member greets you at the front gate, checks you in and leads you to your site. There are lots of trees and most are trimmed; however, we did snag a couple on turns when we left. The sites are gravel and dirt, and they could definitely use more gravel. We were in a “deluxe” site. A pull thru with a brick fire pit, a couple of adirondack chairs and a glass topped table with 4 chairs. All the chairs and table were dirty. This was not a $95 deluxe site IMO. The site was plenty long enough for a 45 MH and tow vehicle, and we did not need to unhook. Sites are nearby with some grass and trees between sites. There is no privacy. Some sites have more space between them than others. Some sites are on Swatara Creek. It’s a pretty wide for a creek and a big attraction for swimming and kayak/canoe. Sites on the creek are parallel parked (head to toe not side to side). Be prepared for lots of mosquitoes. This KOA attracts many weekend warriors and kids (there are many activities for them). There is lots of stirred up gravel dust when cars/RVs go by. We didn’t try the WiFi as it has very limited access. They also have cable but we didn’t try it. It is very noisy from I-81 and Lickdale Road with loads of souped up trucks. They have an on-site deli that serves wings, salads, sandwiches and burgers. They also have Turkey Hill ice cream in all sorts of flavors and sundaes. The store is fairly well stocked with RV items as well as grocery essentials. There are a couple of fast food restaurants within walking distance. There are also a couple of gas stations. Good Verizon coverage.

For KOA Journey Jonestown: Many problems mentioned in previous reviews have been resolved. Yes, there is road noise for the convenience of being close to i81. Staff very helpful and quick. Only park that answered phone at 4:15 on Sunday when we definitely needed an overnight stop. Lovely trees, new gravel, cute and well maintained common area. Spacious pull throughs for many huge rigs with ties that were here with us.

For KOA Journey Jonestown: Stayed for one night while traveling through to see friends in the area. Most amenities were closed (early January 2020), but the kids did enjoy the playground. The staff was friendly and helpful. My main complaint is the campground drainage. 24-hours after the last rainfall, and the campsites were still quite muddy (making unloading/loading the toad quite messy and uncomfortable). The location is good, although the distance into Hershey is slightly less desirable (20-30 minutes). We did not use the bath/laundry facilities.

Andy

For KOA Journey Jonestown: Four stars as this KOA meets all my needs. Easy access from I-81, next door to a Loves Truck Stop so I could refuel my 40’ RV towing a car easily and then go into the campground to rest. Staff was friendly, camp store was ok, campground looks decent but I didn’t use any of the amenities. Lots of road noise but that doesn’t bother me. I will come here anytime I’m passing through; might even stay awhile to see the area!

Dyank

For KOA Journey Jonestown: Convenient to 81 with level sites on Swatara Creek. Lots of things for kids to do-fishing, splash pad, jump pad and nice playground area. Camp store is well stocked and serves reasonably priced food which is delivered to your site. We did not use bathhouse or laundry.

George

For KOA Journey Jonestown: Park is convenient to the I81 and spots are large and easy to get into. Otherwise , for $55.00 a night the park needs to be updated. Laundry facilities are old and dingy. Raining caused roads to be muddy. Asked for satellite friendly site at desk but girl didn’t acknowledge my request. Followed her to site and parked under tree. Asked her if we could have the site next door which was open and not obscured by trees. She said they don’t guarantee requests and that she had just reserved that site. . No one ever came into that spot that night.

Sandy P

For KOA Journey Jonestown: Stayed one night in late November. Pros: Convenient to I-81; friendly, helpful staff; clean restrooms. Cons: quite a bit of road noise (might have been better at sites further away from the road). It was raining when we arrived, and the staff accommodated our request to change sites from our first assignment, due to puddles and mud. The next morning they were working on road grading and moving some gravel, so they were addressing the issue. Not a busy time here.
