For Elk Creek Resort and Lodge: Nice quiet camp ground. The owners were very friendly. Pretty centrally located to Mt. Rushmore, Deadwood, & Sturgis. Grass lots with water and electric and a dump station. The back camping area was spacious and our preference. The only drawback was Internet was nonexistent.

For Elk Creek Resort and Lodge: Campground was sketchy at best. Our site (19) was squeezed in between sites…if they had booked site 20 we would have been in trouble. Our site was dirty…trash all around, dog poop, and grass was uncut. Site 20 septic had toilet paper all around it and it was disgusting. Only plus was it was quiet.

For Elk Creek Resort and Lodge: Elk Creek resort was a solid value for the Black Hills area when considering the PA discount.
We stayed in a small RV for one night with water and Electric for $20.
The sites are level and the bathrooms clean.
While nothing special... it was fine for a one night stay.
Quiet and close to interstate.
I would avoid during the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally when it looks like it would be aâ€zooâ€.

For Elk Creek Resort and Lodge: These owners went so above and beyond. We had a tremendous amount of rain they worked nonstop to clear some large puddles and diverting run off from the surrounding hills. This is a very nice campground and very quiet.
My husband and I were so impressed with the owners and their non stop attempts to control mother nature’s rath. They deserve a 10 star rating.

For Elk Creek Resort and Lodge: The Elk Creek Resort in Piedmont, South Dakota is beyond unsatisfactory! On March 25th we received email confirmation of our reservation for a one-night stay on May 18th. When we arrived in the late afternoon on that day the first thing that happened is that the person in the office was unable, even after several tries, to charge our stay to my Visa. As we were very tired after a long day's drive I wound up paying cash to move things along. Then, after parking in out assigned spot, both my partner and I wanted to use the bathroom. I discovered two men's rooms, one of which was locked, the other being open but out of service and without working lights--I couldn't see a thing with the door closed. My partner found a similar situation in the Women's bathrooms: one out of service, the other working but with an adjacent shower section without any working lights. I went back to the office to try to straighten things out and found the person who had been there had left. A note on the door, however, had three phone numbers for guests to use in case of problems. I called the first number and got voicemail. I called the second number and again got voicemail. The third number resulted in some kind of phone company message that I didn't listen to. We then left.
The next day we called to try to arrange a refund. We were told by whoever answered that they would have to check with the boss and that they would call us back. When no call had come by the middle of the next day we called again and were told the same thing?they would check with the boss and get back to use. Again, no return call. We called a third time the following day and were for a third time told the same thing. We never did receive a return call. Elk Creek Resort is far and away the most poorly managed place I have encountered. In addition, to stiff an unsatisfied customer for a $28 fee shows very poor business judgement.

For Elk Creek Resort and Lodge: We stayed here in an RV for 6 nights. The location was very close to an RV dealership that was affiliated with Black Ox and had the hitch we wanted and the time to install it. We found the CG to meet our needs and was not just cheap but quiet to boot. Managment worked with us to change spots and change our reservation. The CG is within easy driving distance of Mt. Rushmore, Custer State Park, The Journey Museum and even a Sam's Club! We were getting about 8 broadcast TV stations and the wi-fi was occasional, at best. The pool was cared for by a pool service and was cleaned daily by staff during our stay. Verizon worked ok and Sprint was non-existent. We would stay here again.
