For Raccoon Mountain Campground: Stayed in one of the cabins, woke up with bites on body. We thought it was mosquitos but realized after having some appear even after being home that they were likely bed bug bites (bedbug bites sometimes appear up to a week after the bite). Had a trained dog inspection team come and identify the scent of bedbugs in our luggage. Beware!

For Raccoon Mountain Campground: Back for our third time in a tent. Spots are a little close but not worse than other campgrounds. Nice pool and bathrooms. Grounds are kept up and the staff is friendly and receptive to requests. Good service keeps me going back. They even gave me the spot I requested.

For Raccoon Mountain Campground: Worst campground ever! Staff is rude! They try and cram people on top of each other. DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!

For Raccoon Mountain Campground: Narrow short lot. Even though it was off-season they put a trailer on either side of me. I had a camp fire less than 8 feet from my trailer. Glad the wind was favorable and no damage to my unit. Was asked what breed dog we had. Boxer. Came by and said we could not have that breed in the park. Started to load up and leave. Then came back and said oh it was OK. Encouraged us to book an extra day even though we did not think we were going to stay. Asked if we would get our money back and was told we would. But refused to refund my money when I left. Says no refund on bottom of receipt. Enjoy the city and the area. Sure hope there someplace else to stay I would never go back to this one.

For Raccoon Mountain Campground: We chose this campground due to its proximity to Lookout Mountain and all of the other associated attractions. I didn't expect much based on other reviews, but was pleasantly surprised. While the sites are a bit close, the spacing is very similar to that of KOA's and other private campgrounds. The sites, roads, and facilities are well kept, and the office staff was very friendly. We particularly liked the views of the surrounding hills and forested ridges. We will definitely stay here again the next time we spend time in the Chattanooga area. We camped here for two days in a fifth wheel.

For Raccoon Mountain Campground: We stayed ten days in a 39' motorhome with family staying in Cabin #1. Site was level, water and electricity no problem. Site was a bit small, and was in what should have been the continuation of a roadway, so folks were frequently cutting through our site.

When we made reservations in October, they advertised go-karts, mini-golf and a clubhouse, the primary reasons we choose to go there with two young children. None of these amenities were available during our stay. The cave tour was fantastic, with 95% of the formations intact, unlike larger name caves in the area. The stream coming down the mountain and hiking trails also entertained the kids.

Office staff were unfriendly. I asked once about faxing, and once about outgoing mail, neither service was available. They suggested I walk up the mountain and ask in their gift shop, no offer to call for me. That was irritating. Mid-week, my friend went out after dinner to dump the garbage, and all the receptacles were gone. I called the office, no answer, but a recording assuring us they would return the call. I walked up the next day, late morning, after no call and asked. I was POINTED to a sign announcing trash pick up at each site. They also noted trash could be taken to a dumpster, "On the gravel road on the right." Every road is gravel except the main one. I bothered staff again by asking for clarification. She waved toward the right hand side of the park and quickly returned to more important business. The dumpster, after further investigation, was at the end of the paved road, where it turned to gravel, by the defunct go-kart track.

I would return, but would take my business elsewhere given an option.

For Raccoon Mountain Campground: Very friendly and helpful staff. Stayed in a travel trailer. Pull through full hook up site. Great location. Would stay here again.
