Shaggy adventures
For Rio Frio - Garner State Park: Stayed in the Frio Rio loop in January 2020. Well kept park with Roomy, level camping spots. Showers were clean and hot. We hiked a couple trails. (Disappointing how much trash was thrown into the forest). The park was quiet in January.

Round the Bend
For Rio Frio - Garner State Park: We camped here in February 2019 and loved it. We were in the Rio Frio loop water only sites right on the river. You can hear the river, but cannot see it. It’s a very short walk to the river bank. The color of the water is so cool! The bath house was clean and nice. In the warmer months there is a lot to do here such as mini golf, basketball, volleyball...
Numerous hikes- we did the Crystal Cave which is deemed challenging with a few places that you really have to pick your spots if you’re 4 months out of back surgery and in your fifties! Previous review mentions the water. Yes, it was yellow with chlorine. We filtered our water for drinking with a Brita and it wasn’t bad. If you’re worried, bring drinking water. Have fun!!

pensacolapaul
For Rio Frio - Garner State Park: We were not warned about the polluted hook up water and we discovered the next morning after we filled our tank and travelled down the road a bit that the water was very yellow and smelled like gasoline. We then knew why none of the water fountains in the park worked. If that is not enough, consider that there was litter all along the cliff portion of the river trail and up to Old Baldy, and it was 47 bucks for the night.
