For Ed Allens Campground: We enjoyed this campground. Nice an quiet except for the weekends. They got a little crazy, but there was a motorcycle rally while we were there and the next weekend was Father's Day, so maybe it's not like that every weekend.
We were there for 2 weeks and we would go back. It is in a great location to visit Williamsburg, Yorktown and Jamestown.
The dump station was not in a great location - it was too far away from our campsite. We pulled our waste tank, but it was a long trek on gravel, up and down hills. We could have gotten full hookups but would have bene in the middle of the bike rally, which we didn't wan to do. We made it work, but it would have been nice if they had another dump station closer to the campground we were located in - maybe at the bath house.
They have wifi but we didn't use it. The AT&T and Verizon signal was good enough.
There is a train close by, but it didn't bother us.
Beautiful place, lots of fishing, lots of shade, and very friendly staff.
Nice pool and playground. Family atmosphere. Nice laundry room. Lots of full timers.
It felt safe and friendly. We would stay there again.

For Ed Allens Campground: We came here, planning on staying 2 weeks but ended up hanging out for an extra week because it is such a wonderful campground, staffed by a young couple, 3rd generation owner/operator of the original founder - Ed Allen.
It is more than obvious that the campground has been undergoing a series of renovations throughout the nearly 10 acres of wooded campground on a peninsula jetting into Lake Chickahominy...a GREAT Bass Lake. First time out in over 20 years and I came home with 3 Bass (set a couple of smaller ones back in).
Lots to do in the area, located half way between Colonial Willamsburg and Richmond.
Some will complain because of the train tracks that run alongside the campground - but come on, most campgrounds have trains or freeways or some other deterrent - but then again so do most neighborhoods in America.
If you were to look up 'Southern Charm' in the dictionary, Ed Allen's Campground and Cottages would have to be showcased!
Highly recommended!!!
