For Camptown Campground (MHP): My star racing is based on the campground and a comparison to the others in the area.
It is quiet, great guesthouse bathrooms, respectful neighbors, decent WiFi, and large sites. (Don’t pass this one over because it has a majority of back-in sites. I had no problem backing my 45 foot 5th wheel in one. And had plenty of room to park my truck AND car in front of it).
It is a little remote but not too far to get to the freeway, grocery stores, and fuel stations (there is a large one not too far down the road).
Now my comparisons:
1. Super friendly staff. And not just before you get here and only the day you pull in. The staff are ALWAYS friendly and will help you out. (Other places around here treat you like a disposable resident)
2. You can actually wash your rig down when it gets dirty and skirt it for cold weather. (Other sites will either not let you do this or charge you a local water tax)
3. They do like longer term residents. They also ensure that the ones staying there are not your typical ‘trailer trash’ goblins who make life miserable for everyone else. I never had one gripe about who was living there.
4. Spaces are limited compared to other campgrounds. You should plan ahead and reserve a spot well in advance of arriving. The park was full the entire six months I was there. But there was a constant flow of both weekend and longer term residents.
5. I never locked my vehicles there. (Shhh!) Not once did I have anything taken from them. I never saw or heard anyone snooping around. I also never saw a cop or any other kind of law enforcement vehicle. Nobody had ever told me that something was missing from outside their RVs. This is a super safe place.
I stayed at three different places while I was in the area. (I didn’t even bother to try out the closest one (Picture Lake) due to driving there and seeing how nasty it was and talking to the ‘staff’ for just a few minutes. Camptown is THE best in the area. Not to say it is the most fanciest place but it was my happy home for awhile.
