For Winhall Brook Camping Area Ball Mountain Lake: Beautiful, clean, and spacious campground. Some sites with partial hook-ups, most with none. There are dump stations in the north and south loops. Access to the south loop (where the water & electric sites are located) is over a narrow bridge. Approach the bridge from as wide as you can get in order to cross without rubbing your tires on the wooden beam curbs. The bath houses are very clean and there are dish washing stations at all of them.

For Winhall Brook Camping Area Ball Mountain Lake: Nice park with spacious sites. Small RVs work well. At the time of this review, only the south loop was open. Bridge across river is narrow, and shows scars of those who weren’t careful getting lined up on it. Please go slow! If you need cell phone service to work from the road, this is NOT the park for you. The only signal here is a weak Verizon LTE. The AT&T signal is too weak even with a good antenna. All the carriers claim great coverage here, and all lie. The park is in the river valley with extensive walking trails and bike trail along the river.

NH Leen

For Winhall Brook Camping Area Ball Mountain Lake: Great COE park. Mostly level sites, nice mix of open and shady sites. A river runs through the park and divides it into north and south sides, and creates a great soundtrack fir this peaceful setting. The north has generally smaller sites (one loop exception of a large open field). South has a small section with electric, and plenty of dry sites. Two things to be aware of for the south side. First, there is a narrow bridge you must cross, and the approach is tight. The corners of the bridge, and the large wooden timber curbs, bear testament to lots of rv angst. We would strongly suggest using a spotter! Second, we learned the hard way that the campground map is not accurate in one respect. We drove down the south side, looking at multiple sites, to choose one, heading for the nice turnaround at the end of the road. Except the end of the road is not yet a loop as depicted on the map: it ends in a gate across a trailhead, and you will need to back up into other sites to turn around. We lucked out with a mostly empty park, so reversing was not an issue, but had all the sites been full, that would be tricky. Just know that the road is really a one way/dead end and you will be fine. In the meantime, we hope to improve our reversing skills!

Retiree

For Winhall Brook Camping Area Ball Mountain Lake: Excellent campground on the river. Nice variety of site--both sites of the rive. Dry camped with a group of friends on the north shore Sept 2016. Good comfort station and picnic shelter. Will be returning.
Another reviewer commented on the bridge. It should be noted that the bridge was rebuilt in 2016. It should also be noted that there appears to be some damage to both ends of the bridge, apparently from RV encounters.

Harming users beware! My Garmin took me on a 'scenic route' on secondary roads. When I was near my destination, my Garmin directed me past the main road to the park, through town, and back down the other side of the river. I ended up down a lane in the dark. Fortunately, a kind woman gave me permission to turn around in her yard and gave me directions to the park. By now it was well past checkin. A pickup truck passed me as I entered the park, turned around, and followed me to the campground office, it was the two campground hosts who had been expecting my arrival. They checked to make sure that I knew my way to my site, an assured me that one of my group had already arrived and were waiting for me. They told me that I could check in with them in the morning. Nice people!
The next day, another camper in our group was also led down the same 'track' by his Garmin. Needless to say, I used Google Maps while I was I travelling in the area.
