For Whiskey Basin little Red Creek Area: This is a beautiful area for sure, high clearance vehicles recommended. We stayed in about the 3rd site in on the left, near a horse trail. We did have a grizzly bear encounter that could have turned bad really quickly. We took all precautions, NO food in our tent, locked up in our vehicle. Carried bear spray and a gun. We hiked and camped for a couple days here, on the second night after turning in early, we heard a bear come into our campsite, knocked over a grill lid, and walked around our tent, while we were inside of it. We waited quietly for an hour and thought it left, it wasn’t until we decided to make a run for the truck that we realized it was still in our camp site, pulled a gun on it as we ran for the truck, it ran off, and so did we. Later learned that they do not recommend tent camping here any longer and the bears are becoming more aggressive. Please take all precautions when camping here.
