For Lawsons Landing: Stayed here in mid-November 2018 during the crabbing season, but it was quiet during midweek. This place has a long, sordid legal history spannng decades (look it up), and they’re now trying to go legit. It’s in transition, so things are shaky — filthy sites near the water, ONLY portapotties throughout the whole place, some construction being done. The location is spectacular, near the mouth of Tomales Bay, and that may be worth putting up with the mess and the generator noise. In my opinion, the primary problem here is cultural — people treat it badly because everyone else does, and there is very little oversight.

For Lawsons Landing: What a crap-hole. Generators all night, dogs running loose, boaters speeding through camp before dawn to launch boats. NO REFUNDS! What’s that tell you?

For Lawsons Landing: 45$ per night should get you a nice spot with potable water running water toilets and showers

None of that here...

Generator noise is what you pay for

Barking dogs

500 Feet from the ocean once you climb over the sand dunes

We did have difficulties find a campground that night (Saturday)

For Lawsons Landing: Addendum to my review: there are several standpipes in the Camping area, they are just hard to find, spaced far apart. Also, we got very fast Verizon cell service here. Talked to a tent camper, who feels the beach and the lack of stringent rules and refs, makes this place bliss?, and worth $40 a night.

For Lawsons Landing: We stayed here on Halloween and Nov 1, in a 24 foot trailer. It's basically a big grassy parking lot, with no potable water, and only porta-potties. For $40 a day, I expected, at least the same amenities you would find in a state park. The dunes make it very quiet, if you don't have a barking dog on the loose right next to you. No ocean sounds, the Bay is about a quarter mile hike out through the dunes. When we asked if there was a store nearby, we were directed to the marina?, but it only has a small convenience store. There's a slightly better array of choices at the Dillon Beach General Store, or better yet, go into Tomales, where there is an amazing deli, and another small convenience store. I would not stay here again, but apparently all 700 cheek to jowl spaces are taken during the start of crab season, in early November. If it was $20 a night, it would be okay for a day or two.
