Plomosa Road BLM Camping Area

Huge flat area on both sides of Plomosa Road where you can pull off and park for free. A little road noise from 95 but we felt safe and comfortable here. Bring your own water unless you can stop in Quartzsite before 4PM when The RV Pit Stop closes. Fourteen day limit but we just needed a good nights rest to get back on the road. Arrive well before dark so you can find a spot.

We stayed here a week. Had a very good experience. Would definitely come back. Not crowded. Plenty of room since the big events are over. We stayed about 2 miles out off Plomosa road. Easy in and out. Any size rig. Level spots everywhere. Campfires ok. We were about 8 miles from Quartzite. Landfill is on the way into town if you are coming from the North.

Love Boondocking out here. Stayed a week at the end of March last year. Had a blast. Back this year for a couple nights on our way to San Diego. Easy on and off. Free. 14 day limit. Just register with host when you enter. Easy. No generator use 10 pm -6 am.

Came here for a week, and had never done the free BLM camping before. Not sure why we hadn’t tried. This area is a bit less crowded than the other areas closer to the “big tent” and even though it was farther away, it was pretty busy. Lots of generators running, but everyone was good about it. Hard packed rocks and sand. Not dusty when we were there, but it rained pretty hard one day, and no one sank into the sand. The sunsets were nice and the people all around were great. I will come again, and stay in a group. We did see a few folks walking around that appeared to be homeless, and folks recommend locking up anything you don’t want to go missing. During our one week stay, no one had any issues with anything going missing. It was fun.

Great spot north of Quartzite. It's an easy skip into town, but far enough away to have lots of space and privacy. Visited in March and it was wide open. RV Pit Stop on the way out to dump and pump. Three Verizon bars. Beautiful views. Will definitely return.

This is a great BLM spot. Lots of room for the biggest rigs. Some trees provide some privacy and separation. We picked up garbage that was left behind by other campers. Verizon and ATT both had 3-4 bars and LTE. Free household garbage is just down the Hwy towards Quartzite at the Landfill. Open Sun-Wed until 2:30pm. Check in with the camp host before finding a spot and they will issue a 14 day permit.

Very nice and being a bit further out of town much less crowded than the other BLM areas near Quartzsite. Sites are easy access off a paved road. Sunrises and sunsets to die for.

We prefer this BLM site to the others during the big tent RV show as it is a little less crowded at 6 miles from town. Be aware that Monaco sets up a big tent out here with generators on the northeast area of the BLM during this time.
