For Nichols Lake City Park: Overall, the park probably rates 4 stars, but I'm assuming people who subscribe to Allstays are primarily concerned about the camping area. There are only a few sites, but there is a lot of open space. Contrary to what the review panel says, I would not say the campground is appropriate for big rigs, and there are no pull-through sites. The dirt/gravel road that leads to the sites is washed out in places. There are low branches obstructing some sites. The picnic tables are made of concrete and appear to be very old, some are in poor condition. Not all sites have grills. There are no hookups, and I did not see any source of water. That said, there was no one else in the park when we were there. It is relatively quiet, although there is some noise from the turnpike to the east, as well as a nearby RR track (only one train in several hours). Pavilions and bathrooms were made of stone -- appear to be from CCC days (1930s). Bottom line: For the price (FREE) it is very nice.

For Nichols Lake City Park: Beautiful park on a little lake. We stayed free. No one is collecting fees. No power or bathrooms. Great alternative to Walmart.

Dustin

For Nichols Lake City Park: Great spot! Electric no longer worked but you can't beat the price so who cares. The gate is locked at 10 pm every night. Quiet old park.
